LD21 August 19–22, 2011

Obligatory Declaration of Participation

I’m in. I probably won’t make it in time for the contest (since vacationing with my family is a full time job), but I’ll try to get it in for the Jam.

Tools (assuming that I make a 2D game, which is probable considering that meshes are time consuming; if I do make a 3D game, it’ll be in Unity):
IDE: Xcode
Library: SFML
Graphics: GIMP
Audio: cfxr, Garage Band

(And hopefully, unlike last time, I will not screw up my timelapse)

Hi all!

I’m Dopoko, aka Hurrito, and this is my first time entering!

For our team I shall be offering art, animation, and feeding the team.

My friend, cohort, and partner in crime, Chris, shall also be doing art, using his amazing scripting to aid us, and of course, eating the food i make.

My buddy Tom shall be handling music and sound design!

I wish everyone the best. Please to meet you. 😀

Yeah, I’m in again

I’m in for LD21! I’ll stick to doing Flash games, just because it’s fast and easy to distribute. Not that I enjoy coding ActionScript much, but whatever.

Seems I got #1 in Fun in MiniLD28, yay! Thanks for voting! :) If anyone still cares, the game is playable here. I’ve been doing a bigger, more complete version of that for the past two weeks too, but more on that later.

hey! congrats on getting to the top of the fun stack! that is awesome.

I’m in for LD#21

This will be my first Ludum Dare. I’m going to try for the compo. My toolset will be:

Language: C++
SFX & Music: sfxr
Library: SDL
Graphics: Paint.NET, Corel PSP

I have some base code I’ll be using that I quickly put together this past weekend. I will post it on Wednesday, once I finish a few things up with it.

I’m in!

Well the themes are looking like fun! I’m taking part in this Ludum Dare with more or less the same tools/languages as before:

-AS3

-Depending on the kind of game – Tweenlite and/or Flixel, but I’ll announce as I go.

-Gimp/Blender for graphics

-SFXR for sound, even though my last entry didn’t have any :/

Intent, IRC, etc.

Hey, I intend to participate in LD21. I figured I’d drop in here and declare that. I don’t post a lot on the blog usually, but I hang out and babble all the time on the IRC channel #ludumdare on irc.afternet.org. I hope you’ll join me there.

I’m not completely decided on what tech I’m going to use, but I’m leaning towards C++ with SDL 1.3 and OpenGL. My other option would be AS3 with FlashPunk, which has some significant advantages of its own. Will probably depend on what sort of ideas I come up with once the theme is out.

I’m kinda in…

First one – thought I’d give the Jam a go but can’t get anyone to commit to an entire weekend.

So, might enter the standard Dare unless anyone out there is in a similar position and wants to team up. Interested? My email address is mikewintermute@hush.ai

Tools: HTML5 + LAMP backend OR Cocos2D for the iPhone.

Choice of tools will depend on my research this week. I’m a pretty solid backend web developer but I’ve also done some iPhone dev stuff.

Looking forward to it but with a healthy sense of trepidation – will probably be a complete disaster but bound to be fun!

hey hey! another iphone guy. just a note, if you want all the feedback that you are going to get, you shouldn’t do iphone. That said, if you want to get something on the appstore in a weekend, it isn’t a bad idea.

Also in

I’m in, almost certainly going to attempt to write a game in SVG/Javascript as a proof of concept for a larger idea. I’ll be using a program I wrote a while back to generate some of the more repetitive SVG code from XML/XSL, and maybe some of the animations if I get that far. It’s got a Google Code page for those who are interested http://code.google.com/p/batchsvg/

Given I’ve never used Javascript with SVG, and SVG games are fraught with issues anyway, the chances of producing an unplayable trainwreck are pretty high

I’m in

Ok, it seems, that I’ll have enough time to join ld#21 (although probably, it will be more limited).

Goals:

  • finish in 48h
  • make something of whitch I’m more proud than my last ld#20 entry.

I will be using:

  • Code: AS3/Flixel and maybe Flixel Power Tools (some of these samples are mind-blowing) powered by an amazing IDE: FlashDevelop (my dear, my love for you has no bounds 😉 ).
  • Gfx: GIMP with tileset addons.
  • Sound: Bfxr (I really recommend this one over sfxr)
  • Music: My last music piece made some people insane or deaf, so probably this time there will be no music.

the second one is always easier. Also knowing your tools makes a world of difference. You are going to have fun!

I might be in

I’m moving house on the weekend of LD21 :( I would normally join the Cambridge Indies in CB2 for the weekend, but I probably wont make it. I might have a go at the Jam instead. Heres what I would have wonused…

Platform: AS3/Flex4

Framework: Flashpunk

Graphics: Inkscape

Audio: Sfxr

I’m participating

Probably using blender game engine, or at lest do the graphics in blender.

Second time’s the charm?

I’m in!
I’ve been looking forward to this since the semi-fail in LD#20. REVENGE SHALL BE MINE!!!!11!one1!

  • Language: C#
  • IDE: Visual Studio 2010
  • Libraries: OpenTK (opengl wrapper), and my own lib that just pushes vertexdata.
  • Graphics: Unsure
  • Sound: as3sfxr

Declaration of Intent… To Rock!

It’s that time again! Emotions will run high, tempers will flare, and games will be made!

I will enter. This is something that I need.

So… what use?

Well, I’m thinking about Panda3D. Will probably do a shmup, but I’m not sure. I do know that I’ll be in the jam.

So, that being said…

Life is meaningless without passion. Without passion, there is no reason to continue. I have my passion, and I hope that you all find yours this weekend. Let’s see some fire out there, some magic, some love. That’s what this is about.

Peace, love, and a sense of purpose,

— Mr. Dude

I’m in, too

Hi all,

I’m in for LD#21.  It’s the first time I enter the competiton.  I will use

  • Love2D (lua) as programming language
  • Gimp for graphics
  • sfxr for sound
  • If there is enough time I try to use milkytracker  for audio
  • Use Ubuntu 11.04 as operating system

I’m In! :S

Ohaiguise, this is my first time in the competition thingy-ma-bobber.

Tools I will be using:

Code: Flixel/Flashdevelop

Art: Paint.NET and maybe some Adobe Flash for fancy schmancy cutscenes

Sounds: Bfxr

Music: Milkytracker, if I manage to produce something that doesn’t want you to throw yourself off a cliff.

Play it! Seriously!

Dugery – My new, stupid minigame!

Move with the arrow keys and collect 16 ores. Or listen to that funky music!

It is another game done in a whole of 6 hours. It seems I’m getting faster in using Game Maker.

If anyone wants the source, tell me.

Oh, almost forgot to mention: The ores and rocks are generated randomly. So, it may be a new search everytime!

Screenshot-Time!

Woo! Collecting ore! Exciting!

Soo, yeah. You can go play it.

It was created for ghbrvlowabrvfladberogvlwrvfwlo games. (That name totally rules!)

I’m pretty much in, with a friend!

Since it’s going to be my first Ludum Dare, I’ll probably just participate to the jam with a friend. (main focus on music & sfx), but the compo isn’t out of question either so my Our weapons of choice are as follows:

  • Code: C++, Qt framework, OpenGL
  • IDE(s): Visual Studio, Qt Creator, XCode
  • GFX: Photoshop, Illustrator, Paint, Gleed2D
  • SFX & Music: Logic Pro, Kontakt, Waves plugins, maybe Pro Tools.

Have fun everyone!

Getting ready

I’m pumped for LD21 and will be using the following tools:

Sound: Audacity, sfxr, Ableton Live

Graphics: Paint .NET +  My animation helper plugin , the GIMP

Modeling: Blender

IDE/libs: Unity3D with SpriteManager 2 and EZGui

WP Caching Plugin Installed

Hey all.

At the request of our webhost we have now installed the caching plugin W3 Total Cache on the Ludum Dare site (I can hear you laughing at us for NOT running one). The process has so far been smooth and painless, but we’ve only been running it for minutes and not days (nor during an event), so we’ll still have to see if there are any issues.

If a part of the site isn’t working right, please let me and Phil Hassey know! We’ll be on IRC as much as we can this week and during the event.

I have avoided cache plugins in the past since there were “promises” of incompatibilities with some of the plugins I was investigating. We never had the time to really determine the issues, but thanks to our outside encouragement, it’s trial by fire time. :)

So far everything looks to be working fine, but the big test will be Friday night.

I would like to participate but…

Hello, I would like to participate for the first time, I’ve never released any game and this LD21 could be a great occasion to begin…but : Can I make a game with Adventure Game Studio ? I’ve never seen AGS games in ludum dare, so maybe it’s forbidden for a reason…Could you tell me ?

(I’ll also use Graphics Gale for graphism and Audacity for sounds effects)

If people can use Game Maker and Construct, I don’t see why AGS would be forbidden. I can’t think of any AGS ld games off the top of my head, but I’m sure there must be some.
