LD21 August 19–22, 2011

In I am

Yeap. I’m totally in. And finally I found the time to declare it to the world through here. That is, i just finished my basic scaffold code, that just consists of the base flixel classes to start gaming in.

So yeah, as mentioned, I’ll be using flixel in flash for my third Ludum Dare competition. This time i’m in it to win it. Not competition wise, but more of self improvement wise.

So yeah, also making a timelapse, and will have a lot of fun. Also, I totally look forward to the keynote as my son and me will hopefully make a great appearance. Good luck to all the participants.

Edit: Oh yeah, totally forgot to link to my scaffold code.

I’m in!

This is my second LD, after LD #20, which was great fun, so I’m really looking forward to getting started.

Technology: Java Applet

IDE: Eclipse

Sounds: Audacity and sfxr

Graphics: GIMP and Blender

Physics: JBox2D

Base Code: Simple graphics/audio/networking library for applets. Downloadable here.

I’m In! with like…. line segments and stuff…

Hey yall,

This’ll be my third ludum dare, hopefully I’ll finally make something that doesn’t suck :)

I recently picked up Vectrocity for unity, so I’ll use this ludum dare to learn it and make a neat vector based game. Other tools I’ll be using include Blender, Photoshop ( Elements, cuz I’m cool like that), CFXR, and I might cook up some music on my iPad. I also really need to post some awesome food pictures this time.

I suppose I’m in.

I’ll probably end up doing something in C and SDL and maybe Lua if I feel like the type of game I’m making would be enhanced by it. I’ll probably draw the graphics in Inkscape and Gimp. The audio will be done in either Audacity or Sox.

I hope I don’t get brought down by crazy bugs like I did last compo. :'(

I should start getting my math figured out right away so that doesn’t happen.

EDIT: Why does it keep autocorrecting my C tag to C++?

Third times a charm

I participated in two previous LDs and never finished them.  I stumbled on doing the art and content creation so I’m going to think about my art style ahead of time and aim for something with less content.  For the art style I’m thinking of going with flat shaded low-poly models if I’m doing 3D or attempt a pixel art style again. It depends on the theme of course.

  • Unity (C# scripts)
  • bfxr
  • Photoshop
  • Blender or Maya

I’d like to enter.

Hello, I’d like to enter Ludum Dare.

Technology: OHRRPGCE

Sounds: Audacity and sfxr

Graphics: GIMP and OHRRPGCE

Physics: OHRRPGCE

Base Code: Ohrrpgce Scripting Language

I’m in!

Coming up with an original, witty title is a lot harder than it looks.

This is my first ludum dare, and I’m not sure if I actually expect to come out with a finished project. My goals aren’t that high, but I still anticipate I’m going to have a lot of fun. I’m using a language that I’m not entirely familiar with, but I’m going to have a great working atmosphere and lots of documentation.

I’ll be using:

  • ActionScript 3 with FlashPunk
  • sfxr and sunvox (a free music tracker) for sounds and music
  • mtPaint for graphics
  • emacs for, uhh, everything else

I originally planned on using Perl and SDL for this, which I have a decent amount of experience with, but I was worried that I wouldn’t be able to get my game distributed in an easy format. I’ve jumped back and forth a bit between flash and javascript, and I have absolutely no experience with ActionScript 3. This is going to be fun. You know, I should probably go buy some snacks.

EDIT: Okay, I changed my mind. I’m using Python and PyGame, and probably Box2D. Worst case scenario I’ll use Lua and Love2D. Oh man, I really should have planned this out ahead of time.

Game design ideas

Preparing for my first Ludum dare, i was thinking of a game idea which would be really Cool. Wonder if it will fit with the chosen theme…

Anyway, i am a first timer, and i Use Eclipse + Java to create my games, paint.net for Graphics, and sfxr for sound effect stuff. Would be Cool if a theme like “Bend the rules” would of won, but of since that is not a theme for this event, i hope for something like that to win

I’m In

I already made a video and posted a comment and all that jazz…

So here’s my post. I’m in.

First ludum dare ever. So excited. I’m doing all of my school work for this week so I can mentally and physically prepare thursday and friday.

Here’s my I’m In video for the keynote. Yeah, I don’t have a webcam.

Oh, and I’ll be making my entry with either GameMaker or Flashpunk, depending on however complicated the idea is, because I’m a bit new to Flashpunk.

I’m in

I’ll hopefully be entering my first Ludum Dare this weekend. I imagine I’ll use FlashDevelop/Flixel for programming, Fireworks and Graphics Gale for graphics, and either SunVox or MilkyTracker for the music and sound. Dunno how I’ll fare, but I’m looking forward to it anyways! 😀

This will be my second attempt at a Ludum Dare now. Last time I wasn’t able to finish, but I learned a lot. Interestingly enough… most of the code I’d written as a framework for the last Ludum Dare, I incorporated back into my main engine. Actually it was more like… put my main engine into that framework. In any case, as a result, this time around I will be using:

  • Coggoid! My engine itself that I’ve been working on for years.
  • Blender, as it imports directly into Coggoid
  • Sfxr and Musagi most likely for sound and music if I’m able to get that far
  • Audacity for sound editing, again assuming I get this far
  • A very old version of Paint Shop Pro, and probably a little Paint .Net for textures
Shouldn’t be interrupted by any art shows this time around so maybe I’ll have a better shot at this. Really looking forward to putting my engine to the test. I’ll likely be adding a feature or two to it over the course of the competition as needed. Good luck to everyone out there!

I’m In

This I hope to be my first Ludum Dare, I’m a brasilian game dev student.
I’m used to AS3(Flixel/Flash Punk).

I’ll be using:

FlashPunk

Inkscape for graphics

LMMS and sfxg for songs/sfx

custom frameworks :P

according rules i had to post here about any personal library of mine if i plan to join the compo, which is unsure as im writing this

ok, here it is in a very wip/early stage still : P

http://code.google.com/p/colony9/source/checkout

if anyone wants to grab some code from there feel free to. thats the purpose once finished (maybe some day : ) but i discourage to do so, since its wip as f**k : D  it has been a long time since i compiled it under linux, so i guess its not in a good shape either

for the brave people, if any, willing to use a few bits i’d suggest to look into tutorials/base9, tutorials/io9, tutorials/attach9, tutorials/ui9, tutorials/play9, tutorials/hid9, tutorials/network9

a few useful and standalone snippets for gamedev are:

ai9::fsm

base9::callstack, base9::string(s), base9::timer, base9::dt, base9::rtc, base9::echo, base9::manager, base9::unittest

io9::file(s), io9::dictionary, io9::xml

hid9::windows::mouse, hid9::windows::keyboard, hid9::windows::gamepad

attach9::memtracer, attach9::text_logger

ok thats all for now

happy coding

Ludum Dare Meetup in Melbourne, Australia

Hey guys,
I’m running a Ludum Dare Meetup this weekend in Melbourne for people who want to hack with other people around. There’ll be a bit of food, some drinks and socialising. Plus Mana Bar is just down the road. If you live nearby you should come along:

Doh, if I knew ahead of time I could have jumped on a bus! Not sure if there are many in Canberra doing LD (Although trying to persuade some workmates to join the fun). Maybe next time :)

I suppose so :) Plus there is always next time if these are regular things, any excuse for a trip to Melbourne 😀

!ni m’I

I’m in! This’ll be my fifth LD.

As usual I’ll be using C++. Probably using Ogre, Bullet, OpenAL, and perhaps Lua/Luabind. I’ll link my base framework thingy once I’ve written it…

Tools/etc:

  • Blender: For making pretty 3d thingys.
  • Gimp: For making ugly 2d thingys.
  • vim: For making that stuff that tells the computer what to do.
  • g++: For making the computer understand that stuff.
  • scrot: For taking pretty pictures of my desktop.
  • CMake: For building.
  • CTest/CDash: For continuous integration (mainly because “continuous integration” is fun to say).
  • git (hosted on Github): For version control.

I’ll be doing 90% of the actual development in Linux, but I’m mainly targeting Windows, so I’ll be pushing changes to a github repo, and having a secondary Windows box continuously pulling changes and building. This should let me work in my preferred environment (Linux), but still ensure it’s working and building in Windows at the same time.

Here’s a little picture of my previous entries (I saw a bunch of these last time I did LD):

Doing dev on one OS and auto building on another is a really sweet idea.

Do you still have the game that you made for LD16?

I’m in!

This is my first LD48.

I will be using html/js and using the Cake.js library. http://code.google.com/p/cakejs/ (or trying at least, ive only barely used it).

Howdy folks…

Hey Everyone,

This is my first Ludum Dare and my first time programming a full game. In fact, this is my first time doing any serious programming. I’ve always had ideas for games and  recently became inspired by Jason Rohrer and other folks who look at simple games as meaningful. I’m going to start incredibly simple and use Python to put an original spin on the ‘Choose Your Own Adventure’ genre. I’d appreciate any advice you guys have and any critiques once the game is finished.

Thanks!

Edit: I may use pygame and and paint.net. Depending on how much coding I use in the next few days…

I’m In this!

Hi My name is Marvin. I’m in! Looking forward to my first Ludum Dare…

I’m in :D

That’s it, I’m gonna try to keep it really simple otherwise I won’t finish it!
