I might enter it!
But it’s summer! Summers here are so short, maybe I will have to do it in the park?
If I do I’ll use the same framework I used last time, FlashPunk plus a bit of extra stuff for fonts/etc.
PEACE!
.. or you know, to have fun.
Anyway, I predict that I will spend my time mostly working on my ‘Engine’ code, ‘Revolution’. Here is the URL inscase you’re interested: http://proactiveapathy.com/gitweb/?p=revolution.git;a=summary . Here’s a description of what I want to include: https://sites.google.com/site/turevolutionengine/ I’ll probably end up Jamming it; but in case I don’t this is my ‘basecode’ deceleration.

I heard about the Ludum Dare competition from the gaming community NeoGAF. Making a game in 48 hours sounds like a lot of fun, so I’m in. If this goes well, I’d love to join in future ones.
I have not 100% decided on my technology yet. I know for sure that I will either use Game Maker (the GML language) or Java + Slick2D + LWJGL.
If I use Game Maker, which I am more familiar with, I will be able to create a more complex game in a short amount of time, maybe even with Internet capability. The drawback: Windows only.
If I use Java and Slick2D, it will take me longer to write the game. I will use code I wrote prior. Some of it is modified Slick2D code, and some of it is basically base code for any game. The source and a readme are provided here:
http://www.esnips.com/doc/2781cd0d-c7f6-47dd-a003-d8fdc9adad36/WWYDTgamebase
This will be Windows + Linux, because for some reason, it can’t run in Mac OS 10.5 (which I tested it on).
Edit: I should probably add that I will use FL Studio for sound effects and music. Maybe sfxr, but it’s sometimes very obvious when a game uses it, so I don’t know. I’m also eyeing Musagi and pxtone. For graphics, I’ll use Photoshop and maybe Flipnote Studio.
Since this is my first Ludum Dare, and I’m not too confident in my skills, I won’t do a time lapse. I may blog about my progress, though.
This will be my first LD! 😀
-I will probably use GameMaker, simply because it deserves much more respect than it gets (and because its easy!). If I am feeling confident enough, I may use C++ with SDL.
-The GIMP for creating graphics.
-Maybe sfxr for sound effects.
I wish everyone luck with their games.
May the source be with you, always!
This will be my first LD, and I have plans this weekend that will take up most of one day :/ That’s OK, I’m in it for the fun! I’ll be using Java with LWJGL, Slick and probably TWL. GIMP and Sketchup for graphics, and I likely won’t even get to sound. It should be a nice distraction from Age of Goblins. I’m excited! Good luck everyone, have fun!
I’m in!:) This is my first Ludum Dare and I’m joining it just for the experience. I’ll be using python an pygame.
I was in for the last two so I don’t want to break my streak. I’ll be using PixieEngine, as always, and testing out the new XNA export feature.
Peace
I have quite limited coding experience (Some C++ and basic Python) but if I can get up to scratch in time (about 3 days) I might enter, so:
I will use either Python or C++
Either Pygame or SDL
Gimp (Although this might just end up being a text adventure
)
And SFXR
…Lets see what happens
Well, i have absolutely no idea what im going to make this time.. i guess itll struggle my head with it tomorrow and on, but i’m in for sure!
My developement tools declaration:
_GameMaker 8.1 for the main engine and stuff.
_CorelDraw for the graphics (with some photoshop, if needed)
_SFXR for the sounds.
Will be getting enourmus quantities of coffe and cheap food too (yeah, it also counts as a tool)
Pretty casual, as usual.. Cheeeers, and let teh best dummie theme win!
Sort of took a while for me to get around to posting this, especially since I submitted a theme (it was either cut or is in round 5) and have been voting every day.
Nonetheless, I’m excited for my very first Ludum Dare (all I’ve done is a single miniLD). I’ll likely end up using Ren’Py again, starting with the base code they give whenever you start a new project.
I can’t wait to see what everyone ends up making.
Edit: I plan on using Adobe Illustrator for images and either Audacity or some sort of synthetic free thing I find on the internet for sound. Also, I will attempt a time lapse with CamStudio. If 2min=1sec is a bad ratio, someone tell me quick.
Hi again! So I have this small music program I made a little while back, mostly just for fun, that lets you make little drum/music loops. When I made my I’m In post I got a comment from someone saying they were interested in using this to make music loops for ludum dare and requesting a wav export function be added. I’d gotten this request before, so I went ahead and added it!
So if you’re interested, here is version 1.0.1 of Drumcircle, with an export button under “Save” that emits a seamless-loopable wav of the current loop. Here’s a quick little music loop I made with it to demonstrate.
Hope someone finds this useful
Hi! this is my first LD… and I’m in!
I’ll be using Adobe Flash/as3, Gimp, freesound.org and free music available online.
Good luck to all!
Announcing our presence as a team of five. Looking forward to some good jamming!
We will most likely brew something with XNA, Photoshop/openCanvas/SAI, Mixcraft and sfxr.
Count me in, this is my first ludum dare and i’m going to give it my all. I will most likely be using C# with XNA (or I might try using Java with Slick2D), along with BFXR and Paint.NET to (hopefully) create an awesome game.
I haven’t done any game creation competitions before, but have made heaps of little games, so it will be a great challenge.
This is my first time and I’m going to use C#/XNA, Paint Shop Pro, Gimp, Inkscape and ACID Music Studio.
I don’t really know. I might be busy. Although I really hope I am not. But if not, here are my tools.
Language: AS3 with Flashpunk
IDE: Flashdevelop
Art: Gimp
Sound: as3sfxr and maybe pxtone
Hopefully this LD will be better that my last one (which I didn’t finish).
Hi!
I’m vaino and I’m in!! This is my first ludum dare and I’m really excited to take part in this challenge. I plan to make a game using unity and c#.
I forgot to mention that I probably will use Farseer in my game:
http://farseerphysics.codeplex.com
So, I’m in and I’ll use: C#/XNA, Paint Shop Pro, Gimp, Inkscape, ACID Music Studio and Farseer Physics.
