This is going to be my second Ludum Dare. I participated in October for LD 54 in the Jam category with some members of my university's game design club. We were really happy with our entry, but we struggled to find time to work on voting for other entries, so our project didn't see too much exposure.
This time, I wanted to challenge myself so I am going to be doing the Compo category. I primarily do coding and visual art, but this time I think I will dabble in some sound design to make something COOL!
I've got my battle station all set up here for Unity and livestreaming as well. Please come on by and say hi! I would really enjoy the company! Here's my Twitch!

The hype is real now! Can't wait to get this started!
This will be my first game jam, Luck to all of you!

This is my first Ludum Dare with my mates and I am so excited to get going! Viva la Wigan
I hope i will choose 1st prog lang!!
We are joining for our first LD together! We will be using Godot, VSCode, Blender, Aseprite, LMMS, and Photoshop to create fully original assets for our game.
YES YELLING IS NECESSARY. The way the discovery system works is that you rate and optionally make thoughtful comments that get liked. Your game then naturally rises up the list to be played, regardless of the quality/presentation of your game. It's unnecessary to: - post your game as a blog post - post in discord - advertise it literally anywhere - do anything else to get rated
Somehow people miss this every LD and end up generating thoughtless comment spam or putting in way too much effort trying to market their game when they could just be putting that effort into rating other games. Postmortems are always fun to read though, just don't make any post with the sole intention of driving traffic to get rated. It's just silly.
Getting an LD rating is so simple though.. just rate others!
I'm in with possibly another unfinished game for the scrap heap. I had the most fun making silly characters in ld31 so I think I'll stand tall and try again.
LD31 is probably the only LD I worked almost the whole weekend too, but the game wasn't great. It reinforces that hard work is not productivity or value. But learning lessons and/or having fun are kind of the whole point!

Howdy! I'm JJ, a teenage indie game developer currently working on a Steam game.
Ludum Dare has surprised me, as it's a large jam that just so happens to be over a weekend that I have completely free. So... I'm all in! I'll be sharing my development on Twitter as @hotnoggin at https://twitter.com/HotNoggin, hopefully by the hour, as I make my game. You can peek at my messy code in my (currently empty) GitHub Repo here: https://github.com/HotNoggin/Ludum-Dare-55. I'll be shooting for the Compo.
I've got a great toolset, one that lets me make quite literally anything I want to. - A hefty gaming laptop for on-the-go game dev. - Godot Engine, my game engine of choice. - PixelOrama for pixel art graphics. - BlockBench for 3D models if I decide to take that route (I won't). - GitHub and GitHub Desktop for version control. - Audacity, a Blue Yeti USB microphone, and BFXR for creating and editing sounds. - Don't expect music from me.
Are you ready for this? I'm not. Good luck! Let's do this. :sunglasses:
lol today i setup my steam deck to make the jam on it
In (I say it every time but always drop out early, lets see about this time) ... solo using unity
waiting for the result....

Seems everyone is always talking about their jam entries. Where's my fellow compo warriors at!?!?
Hoping to finish my first entry in a little while. I'll be using this jam as an excuse to get away from Unity and tinker with Godot a bit. Good luck everybody and have fun!
Somehow, 2 game designers met and agreed to work together on LD.
This is our second experience, let's hope that this time everything will be fine and I will be able to write the code myself.
Good luck to everyone
