LD30 August 22–25, 2014

I am in too

A long long time ago
I can still remember how
That game used to make me smile
And I knew if I had my day
That I could make those people play
And maybe they’d be happy for a while.

So.. I am in too.

Last LD i made this –> http://gamejolt.com/games/adventure/beneath-your-feet/25707/ <–  Few people really like it. I got some let’s plays,  some reviews. And now, i try to make something much better!

My tools :

Engine – Game maker

Sounds – SFXR (or similar thing :D)

Music – http://www.fakemusicgenerator.com/

Graphics – paint.net + pyxel

Sprites and Sounds all week!

Working hard on sprites and sound to prep for LD30. Moving from java2D to opengl and lwjgl, cant wait to see how it all turns out! Good Luck to everyone this weekend!

I’m in

Hello

I’m in for the first time (in any game jam), and my first time making a game this quickly, but I’m up for a challenge!

Language: Java

IDE: Eclipse

Libraries: libGDX

Graphics: Firework

Sound: FL Studio and (maybe) Reaper

In!

This time around I’ll be tackling it with Haxe and OpenFL in the FlashDevelop IDE.

Graphics in Photoshop.

Audio in Renoise with Synth1, encoded using WinLAME.

Hopefully I’ll find time this week to better familiarize myself with Haxe/OpenFL but either way it’ll be a learning experience.

Good luck, everybody! \o/

IN

The usual yadda yadda python, pygame, etc

Everything streamed on twitch.tv/vegard1992 so you have proof I aint cheatin’

Im finally gonna make something NOT stupid and unplayable, I swear!

(unofficial request for unban on IRC)

A few words for a few nerds…

I couldn’t help noticing the choice of themes in this LD. I know I’m not the only one to raise this issue, and I have to say to anyone else who did, I completely agree.
If the games are going to be “innovative”, then the themes must be too. I remember doing the Slaughter a few days ago, and one of the themes was “shooter”. I personally hope the person who suggested that theme met the same end as the theme itself. Because, most of the games I played, especially in the last LD, looked as though they had been created beforehand, and then someone just slapped on an image of an underground cavern in the background.

But hey, listen to me, moaning, I’m just tense. I’ve got some practicing to do.

Here’s to hoping the theme’s going to leave room for interpretation, and at the same time not so vague that someone can just get away with copying an existing game.

GOOD LUCK EVERYONE, AND HAVE FUN!!!

Oh Boy, I Think I’ll Be Doing It This Time!

This is going to be my first ever Ludum Dare as well as one of my first ever serious game jams. I’d learned of Ludum Dare several jams ago and have been watching people participate ever since. I think I’m now ready to join in the fun. Again, this is my first jam, so I may not finish, but hey, at least the weekend will be interesting!

Since I’m already here, might as well do some shameless self-promotion!

I’m currently working on a game called A Peasant’s Tale and I make devlog videos here: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCjywaHBImnId4GNZXAuejKg

If you like those, then please feel free to stop by the Facebook page here: https://www.facebook.com/APeasantsTale

Thanks! :D

Let’s make a video game!

http://ludumdare.com/compo/wp-content/uploads/2014/08/YtKWRKk.gif

After missing 3 LDs in a row, here we are to hack a new video game. We’re a team of three this time!

Techs

  • Engine: Phaser.JS (we’re all new to it, but that’s where the hype is, so let’s give it a try)
  • Music: Propellerhead Reason 7 (freshly bought license! my wallet is empty!), Audacity
  • Graphics: Gimp
  • Editor: Notepad++
  • Other optional stuff, depending on the game: JXFR, TilEd

What we want to do

Not a platformer game, because we already made some, otherwise have fun and make something original.

Is there no challenge like inserting goats or kittens this time? Hell yeah Potato Salad!

In innit

Hey all,

I jammed it with my good friend MrBungle for LD #29, think I’m back doing the solo comp this time round. I’m 30, Ludum Dare’s 30, it’s a sign.

As I’ve said before, I’m a C++ OpenGLer by nature (been hitting SDL2 of late), but I don’t think it’s realistic for one person to churn out a cross platform LD entry in 2 days with those tools, without a fair amount of cheating, so I’m going for my usual, meek, but perfectly adequate tool set..

IDE and host: PlayMyCode

Platform: In-browser (Desktop and maybe Mobile)

Language: Quby (HTML5 + JavaScript)

Graphics: GraphicsGale, Gimp, Irfanview

Sound: Audacity, bfxr

Music: no idea / free stuff / microphone / low priority

Good luck everyone!

No promise

This weekend it would be my birthday. 0070

Make a cool game is the best way to celebrate it.

Also my sister is anxious about creating games.  This means I will have pretty graphics this time.

Will be using ActionScript asusual.

I’m in!

I was about to skip this LD, but got so hyped when voting on themes.

Using:

– Unity
– Pyxel

Going to participate in the real world gathering at Helsinki, Finland.

We’re in again

Ion Programming are in again for their 8th LD. We’ll be entering the jam again and hopefully do better than last time. Our entries are getting progressively better and more polished each time, so hopefully we’ll win something this time around.

As usual, we’ll be running on a tight schedule because of our school/uni commitments.

We’ve planned, and hopefully we’ll stick to it, to make a very simple game. Lots of time spent planning and polishing, hopefully keeping the core of the development to just over a day.

Our arsenal of tools will include, as usual:

  • Java
  • Eclipse
  • Git
  • Photoshop
  • Paint.NET
  • Ableton Live
  • Audacity
  • This amazing musical engineering masterpiece:

  • SFXR
  • And anything else we need…

HAHA! What an enormous thing! Good for evil overlords! Have you ordered your white cat?

LD30 with open office

Can not wait to start. Waking up at 2 am. Saturday to join in with my college from the company.

using:

-Unity
-Fami
-LabChirp
-Pickle (maybe photoshop)

see you then!

I am in!

After long long debating hours i decided that i would join the ludum dare. As far as my experience goes which i have none, product of my first LD could be terrible. As this is my first LD i decided to use Unity , blender…

I’ll give it a go.

So, may as well take a stab at it.

It sucks, I came up with a great idea for a game today. Most likely won’t fit this LD’s theme tho.

But, I may as well spend my last weekend of Summer on the LD. Here is what ill use

  • Unity
  • Photoshop
  • BFXR
  • Visual Studio
  • C#

It’s the golden rule of LD: if you come up with an idea before the comp, it will be the 100% opposite of the chosen theme!

Swift for Ludum Dare?

Been poking at this Swift language, and I’m not very good at it yet.

Is anyone considering writing their game in Swift?

That’s a bad idea. It only allows your game to be downloaded on iOS devices.

I’m curious – are apps programmed in Swift able to be compiled for versions of OS X prior to Mavericks? (My limited research is that there is only limited support for Mountain Lion, and no support at all for versions of OS X prior to that…)

As other people said, Mac only, so probably a bad idea :(

All In

Once again Ludum Dare is upon us!
In the past four months I’ve done a lot of reading and studying and I am very excited for LD30.
This time around I won’t be using Twine, instead I’m going to design everything myself with the magic of Javascript and various libraries.
Here’s the list:

IDE: Atom

Platform: Browser

Language: HTML5, Javascript

Graphics: HTML5 Canvas, Gimp

Sound: sfxr, bosca ceoil

Libraries: http://www.shasharala.tk/res/js/main.js & jQuery

I’m not sure if I’ll need anything else, but we’ll see after examining the theme.
Good luck to everyone!

This Ludum Dare is going to be interesting. I am in the process of moving house and the removalists are coming in the day after Ludum Dare. Also will be using a new laptop I only just set up too.

So a bit of Chaos but LD only comes up a few times a year so bring it :).

Will be using the following:

Engine: Unity Pro

Graphics: Photoshop CC

Sound FX: Bfxr, Adobe Audition

Music: FL Studio

Source Control: Git – SourceTree

I will also be using some build utility scripts I wrote that allow me to publish to drop box easily which anyone else can use from here: https://github.com/wiltaylor/buildall
