LD30 August 22–25, 2014

We’re in

Hi !

We, Coldman, DarksteelPenguin and tchassin are participating to the jam. First time entering for some of us.

We will use C++, SGE, Photoshop and maybe Tiled Map Editor.

We’ll blog here and at darksteelpenguin.wordpress.com.

Good luck !

Posting my engine

I already posted that I am in, but I didn’t have an engine so I wrote one like an hour or two go. I tried to post this before the competition started but couldn’t get on here. This is really basic and I doubt anyone will get any use of it in its current state, but here it is.

Fifth Ludum Dare! Count me in/First Post

Hello and good morning.

It is with an excited heart and fresh cup of tea that I inform you all I am a “GO!” for Ludum Dare 30. A very good friend of mine known as “Catmoo” got me into game jams a couple of years back and it has been one of the most fun passtimes I have discovered. As a full time game designer it is one of the best things you can do to tune your skills and expand your thinking.

Now to the obligatorys

I Will be tweeting from @xopsx

I am using a template for the first time which I am uploading now. It contains folder names, a splash screen sound and graphic and two control objects with movement instructions

(EDIT: template here – https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B1slfyHxOtX3MWVKdm51bjZpWlU/edit?usp=sharing )

I am going to set myself a challenge of NOT using Bevel and or Emboss in photoshop on ANY of my created assets.

I will, as always, feature hidden space tea

My chosen tools are

Game Maker – https://www.yoyogames.com/studio

BFXR http://www.bfxr.net/

Photoshop (some really old version from somewhere …)

Audacity/Premiere, etc…

Garage Band as my music creator

Xmind for my brainstorming and I recommend it to everyone as a fast prototyping tool – http://www.xmind.net/

Here are my previous entries

I wish you all good luck and I await the theme in anticipation!

Woo! First LD

So, yeah. This will be my first Ludum Dare. I’ll be using HaxeFlixel.

Wish me luck!

Great!

This is my second LD and, while the other was with plain HTML5, I intend to learn HaxeFlixel on this one.

well ok…

I have to work tomorrow which takes a HUGE chunk of my LD time out, cant say up all night morning and day and do work … I was hoping for growing or even cant stop moving cause I have a couple simple ideas that would fit that theme, and knocking them out in the deadline would not be an issue.

but since its connected worlds, I cant think of a simple enough idea to implement in 30 ish hours so Ill do a totally non theme game as a jam entry.

Good luck to everyone, cant wait to see your games!

Let’s go Compo

My third LD, but this time in compo!

Good luck everyone!

Declaring Base Code, Use if you need a starter kit. :)

It’s GLFW I/O and windowing, along with some Vector Classes and other Math stuff and a very simple State machine.

https://github.com/qristofer/Ludum-GLFW3-Base

Have a great compo/jam (I’m doing compo!) everyone, and sorry for taking up bandwith at this time, I still don’t know what the theme is.

Alright, i’m in.

So, my first LD.

Aiming for the compo, but might have to settle in the jam.

I’ll be using:

– Javascript

– Some PHP

– Paint.net

– Notepad++

Wish me luck :)

Teaming up

Before the theme, me and a friend were not sure whether we would work together or fly solo. As of now after brainstorming the theme, we decided to team up!

Hopefully this goes well!

Alright, i’ve got my idea, time to state my libraries

I’ll be using Brod’s Platform engine, as per usual =\
http://gmc.yoyogames.com/index.php?showtopic=452605
and also some of my own code:
http://pastebin.com/f7eKXsGM
and my menu system (.gmres, sorry for anyone not able to use those =\)
http://puu.sh/b3VZf/1fab5c0be0.gmres

Good luck to you all!

My second try!

I’m in!

I’ll be using photoshop, Unity, and probably famitracker.

Let’s do this!

Gene-Z Team

Using Fusion 2.5 Developer this time

Lets do it…

This theme sucks. Let’s f* sh*t up!

Since this isn’t a theme, it’s a vague “make anything” crapfest, it’s time for:

CONNECTING THE WORLDS OF DENTISTRY AND CAR RACING

Already have 2 graphics done.  Placeholder or not, don’t care, going with this.

Hmm need a font… and Swankypaint seems to have decided that it can’t render (:  It is protesting the crap theme!  But no worries, I will fix.

Planning Session!

Before we go to bed (it’s 2am UK time!), we’ve put up a big whiteboard and are brainstorming!

Come join us and contribute if you like! twitch.tv/literalgames

Hellosies

Hi, I’m Jarmo. First time in officially.

Using C++ and SFML 2.1 + various tools for graphics. My goal is something barely playable.

I’m in. Officially.

I’m back!

Hello, it’s good to be participating again! Some of you may know me from Cavern Kings and I’m happy to announce Vine and I will be participating in the jam!

Good luck to everyone, and remember to have fun!

We are in!

Hey guys,

Last jam me and my friends couldn’t finish the game, many personal problems affected team’s hype…

But now history shall be different!

The tools are the same:

  • Unity 4.6 (let’s beta test the UI :D) – Engine
  • Visual Studio 2012 – Code editor
  • Photoshop – Graphics
  • Paint Tool SAI – Graphics
  • Spine – 2D animations
  • Something for sound/music :X (probably free assets from somewhere…)

It’s me, the somewhat coder, and takeshi, the spriter.

I hope we can finish it on time heh

Good luck everyone!

Gonna try it

I’m going to give it a go.
Plans to use:
Gimp
Unity Engine : + Standard Assets, particles, etc. that come with Unity and publicly available code/scripts as a base to get going.
Maybe some blender if I ever learn how to use it :)

I’m in

This is gonna be my first ever LD.  I hope I’ll enjoy it!

Have fun everyone!

Ready to rumble

Hey there !

I’m ready for my 3th LD, nice theme as usual, let’s try something nice for this one…

U can check my old LD stuff on my soundcloud :

See ya tomorrow and HF TO ALL !

Im in!

First time giving the Dare a go. I haven’t worked in Eclipse in a while, but will be developing in Java using LibGDX, Wish me luck!

engine change

quick note: because of the theme, I am changing my engine from unity to game maker, since unity isn’t very good for the type of game I’m going for.

Heya!

Participating in Ludum Dare for the first time and starting to get really excited. Let’s see if it’s possibly to make a actual submission. We’ll see!

The Tools

  • OS: mainly on Linux / OS X. Windows for porting.
  • Code: C++, SDL2, OpenGL of not, Qt Creator & qmake, Visual Studio 2012 & qmake (Windows port) and for the base “engine” I have ugly blob of code I just put to Github: https://github.com/codise/Trieng.
  • Graphics: Gimp, Pixaki & Procreate on iPad
  • Sound: Sfxr, Audacity, let’s see if there’s time for any music then maybe a tracker

Good luck to everyone!

Ideas so far:

Hey guys! So, the theme is Connected Worlds… hmmmm. Gonna be some interesting concepts. If anyone needs any help with ideas, here is some of mine:

ideas

Good luck everyone!

in

using python and pygame. First Ludum Dare, but second game jam. I am ready for anything.

4th LD

Hi everyone,

This will be my 4th LD, I started exactly 1 year ago with the “10 seconds” LD and got immediatly hooked.

I’m gonna use Unity3d + Blender + Photoshop + FLStudio + sfxr and the open source

Gonna be in Ludum Jam

This is gonna be my first year in this. I’m using my own engine called Piestyx. It’s dependant on LWJGL and Slick_Util. I’ll probably be updating it throughout the Jam for different needs, since it’s very early in development. The library jar can be found here: http://goo.gl/lQoUPV, and the source can be found here: http://goo.gl/KWuqYk

Code: Java + Piestyx

Graphics: Photoshop

Audio: CJH3D using FL Studio.

Reminder: Send PoemsAboutGames Your Ludum Dare Games!

In case you were unaware, poemsaboutgames.tumblr.com is a cool place where we… write poems about games. Innovative, unnoticed web games, to be precise.

Due to the anticipated influx of new games from Ludum Dare, we will be covering twice as many games as usual for 2 weeks. If you want us to write a poem about and rate your Ludum Dare game, make sure to email it to us at poemsaboutgames@gmail.com or tweet it to us at @poemsaboutgames.

Have a creative and fufilling weekend!

Okay, I guess I’m in.

I was a bit reluctant at first, but I guess I’ll join. I wanted to join the Jam at first, but Monday just won’t work for me and I didn’t want to slow anyone down with my absence.

Tools of the trade:
Coding: C++, C#, GML
IDE/Engine: Custom, Unity, GM:S (Depending on the theme)
Other: Photoshop CS4, GraphicsGale, Bfxr, Skelly (My own 2d animation software, PM if you’re interested in using)

Lots of coffee prepared, no energy drinks tho :)

C_Walden’s First Ludum Dare Compo

Whew. Well, this thing’s about to start, and I’m all pumped up. I’ve never done this before, but I have some really fun ideas for the top themes… though I hope it’s Connected Worlds. That’s my favorite from the list, and from the previous voting results, was generally other folks’ favorite as well. I did come up with some short sentence concepts for the other themes just in case.

I’m gonna pull out Unity for this and develop for Web. If all goes well, hopefully I’ll have something to actually submit on time! If not, I’ll finish it anyway.

Let’s Ludum

And here I go for the first time, I’m very exited about the jam! Fortunately I will work with a mate who have already made a few LDs before.

Here are our small set up :

Languages : AS3 (with Adobe Flash)

Libraries : greensock and soulgame framework

Music : original creations of mine

Sounds : probably going to pick up some free libraries!

Have fun!

Good Luck, Everyone

I’ve decided that this is something I need to do for my sanity. I’m using Game Maker, Paint, and Audacity.

Joining the Fray

This will be my first LD to participate in. I have friends who I have talked to during the previous competitions so I am super excited to finally participate.

I have been working with JavaScript at work recently, so I am going to be using that for the competition. My tools and libraries are as follow:

  • Game Framework: Phaser
  • Text Editor: Sublime Text 3
  • Audio Effects: Sfxr (what else!)
  • Background Music: www.fakemusicgenerator.com (I will have to give credit in my game)
  • Image Editor: Gimp

I have made a demo “game” with Phaser: www.nitramtj.com/phasertest/index.html

The demo is just a ship flying around a few planets in space. The planets are actually black holes, so watch out if you play it!

I learned the following from making this demo:

  • How to potentially organize my code. I am going to use states as levels, and have Manager classes (such as PlanetManager) that have constructor methods and update methods.
  • Work with Arcade Physics in Phaser
  • Work with assets and preloading them
  • Keyboard controls
  • Do not rely too much on game elements that require math. While I could probably do this if I was more adept, I spent a lot of time just tweaking the gravity in game.

Some things I wish I could have done and hope do not set me back in the competition:

  • Create a menu screen
  • Use the particle system
  • Switching levels/states
  • Image based collision
  • Groups
  • Screen/Camera effects
  • Code Optimizer (I am using AMD modules, so I need to try this)

I plan to be streaming on Twitch while I am working, I hope to see you stop by! Good luck to everyone else entering!

Tinkering with Clojurescript

I want to make something in Clojurescript but it’s my first time to use Clojurescript so I’m not sure how far I’ll get. At least I’ll try to learn some more about Marching Squares.

I’m out (this time)

After 8x Ludum Dare entries in a row, I have to sit this one out! Traveling (3rd LD in a row I was traveling) and this time, I don’t even have a few hours 4-6 hours like the last two…

Hope to be back in December though…

Good luck!

Count me in

I am participating in the Ludum Dare.

Using Unity 3D, sfxr, autotracker, and anything I find useful on the LD tools page.

My first Ludum Dare

Feeling excited for My first Ludum Dare I have just been starting to get into programing I will be useing unity and programing in c#, blender for the modeling and gimp for texturing

bring it on 😀

We are in!

Going to try! Writing game from scratch using ogl and openal own assets(2d, pixel art). Stay tuned!

Good luck for other teams.

EDIT: That android autocorrection 😀

I is In

Keeping this short since I didn’t post before the clock started. I, Bcadren, am doing LD30. :) Be using Unity (probably by itself, though possibly also GIMP and/or Blender.

1st time ever in LD. 2nd time ever in Game jam. :D

I’ve never done Ludum Dare before, and the only other Jam I’ve done was GameBoy Jam 3 a few weeks ago. So I’m super new to this.

I’ll be using Construct 2

I’m hoping to create music and sounds with FLStudios if there’s time.
I’ll be happy if I get anything working in the 48 hours.

Best of luck to everyone. :)

Need some time to think…

“Connected Worlds”

Oh great. Let’s see if I can come up with something for this. This may be difficult. Or maybe I can take an idea I never got around to developing and try to get it to fit. I’ll probably figure it out in the shower later. I just got back from vacation and really need one. First though, I’ll watch a few youtube videos that I’ve missed.

Let’s do it!

Energy Drinks Ready! LET’S DO IT!

desk2

i have no ideia about this theme yet. :(

Good Luck Everyone.

You Can’t Give It Up; Go For Broke!

Guess I’ll give this a try. Never done LD before, but I’ve got more time now than I’ve ever had before and might have again any time soon.

Operating System: Windows 7

Language: C#

Engine: Unity3D

IDE: MonoDevelop

Revision Control: Git via Github Client for Windows

Graphics: GIMP, MyPaint (If I end up trying to draw anything elaborate.)

Sound: sfxr, LMMS

Ok, I’m in, too.

My first #LD48. I’m using GameMaker: Studio, GIMP, LMMS (and possibly Audacity), and maybe sfxr, and dafont.com. I doubt I can complete a game in 48 hours, but what the hay. Gonna give it a whirl.

Good luck to all!

Why, thank you. Same to you :)

First timer

This will be my first Ludum Dare and I hope to enjoy !

My tools :

Unity

3ds max

Photoshop

Good Ludum Dare to all !!

Music to Jam to

I normally cycle through ambient soundscape style music, videogame chip tunes and other bleepy noises, dabbling in classical as I need more inspiration… However, I recently discovered this internet radio station “Chilltrax”

http://www.chilltrax.com/v2/index.php/en/

I highly recommend it to work to 😀

enjoy!

Um I guess I’m in?

First timer, mostly clueless. Have been learning Unity lately, but feeling a bit blocked on the game I’ve been making. so a change might be good. Got photoshop for pixelly stuff, have installed Inkscape but not done much with it yet. I guess BFXR for quick sound effects, dunno about music.

I’m in, for the first time

I’m in, for the first time.

I’m so excited!!

I’m quiet busy on the first day of this LD, I wrote an engine yesterday. The Engine also isn’t ready yet, sprite animation and some way to make sound is still missing, hope I will get it done during the competition.

My tools:

  • Engine:     self-written
  • Graphics: Gimp, Inkscape
  • Sound:      Audacity, MAGIX MusicMaker 15, sfxr
  • IDE:          Eclipse(Java)

PS:

Can anyone tell me a good website where I can host my game, the source, etc. for free? Thank you in advance for your support!

A GIF animation!

Well, I did make some progress. The game has nothing else than graphics and a feature that changes the world when button ‘W’ is pressed.

We’re in!

This is going to be awesome. We’re gonna jam in 3 men team. One for art, one for code and one for sounds.

Should be great!

Using: Unity, C#, PhotoShop, After Effects, Logic Pro 9 and stuff.

In !

I’m in for my 4th LD,

I’ll be using construct 2 as usual and certainly my guitar and audacity for the sound and gfx.

This is a very good theme at least and I’ll have a very good time with my friends.

Now it’s time to sleep and see you tomorrow morning.

M.

2 years later and I’m gonna give it a go

I’m a bit older and a battle-worn parent of a 4-year-old so I don’t know how well I will do with compo but I am giving it another go. The weekend before school, this will be a great way to get me in the mood for programming.  My last attempt got way out of hand, the idea was cool (in my head, of course) but I got way too involved with the graphics.  My mouth is much bigger than my stomach, so-to-speak.  This time around, I am going to stick with very simple sprites and get the coding all done, then go to music/sound, then if I have time I will update graphics (probably won’t, but maybe just some minor updates).  I also have some bedroom studio audio equipment so I am excited to make some interesting (probably crappy) music!

Sleep:  Since I am a parent and stay-at-home dad, I will be sleeping tonight probably around 2-3am and then waking up around 8am tomorrow.  I’ll try the same tomorrow but probably will take some power naps throughout the day for added clarity.

Engine: Pixi/Phaser (probably start with Phaser and see if I feel like just dialing back to Pixi as I progress)

IDE: Brackets/Chrome Dev Tools

Art: GIMP

Sounds: sfxr

Music: Reaper

Hopefully this will prove fruitful for me however I am still not sure on my idea yet so it’s up in the air!  Got some house/child stuff to do over the next couple hours but my mind is on LD!  I’ll update as soon as I have something and begin designing some simple sprites.

Alrighty then, let’s get a move on!

Tired of being a spectator, going to get dirty!

I’ve been a long time spectator of the Ludum Dare challenges, competitions and jams — but with rich tooling so accessible these days, there’s no excuse to not participate anymore. So count me (and my friends) in.

Required pre-competition statement:

Will likely be sticking to my strengths in tooling and languages, i.e. Visual Studio, C# and the recently released (and free) Unity framework. Will also investigate any/all tools listed on the Ludum Dare page. I have no prior code extensions or art to import. Vanilla.

Up and running!

Ludum Dare 30 is a-go!

I have already been streaming for a while and now have a viable starting point with an interesting control scheme. Now I need to fit the Connected Worlds theme in there somehow.

Have a GIF of the current state and join me at www.twitch.tv/mr_pakoito

And it only took 3 days!

Movement system for multiple PJ ready!

I will say this

Not ready to fully commit yet (plus I have to run off, I’ll be back later to actually start developing.)

I will say this- I just played a basic concept of my game with my brother in Adobe Illustrator, and despite the fact that in this earlier state it’s impossible, I think I have something here!

LUDUM DARE 30 YEAH

We are in!

Well, I’m not sure what we’re going to make of the theme, but we’re in for this Ludum Dare!  Updates as the evening progresses.

Declaring Base Code

I’m going to be using Maarten Baert’s extreme physics system for game maker

http://www.maartenbaert.be/extremephysics/

super useful for anybody wanting to do 2d physics simulations in game maker

Ok i’m in

It’s my 6th LD !

I will use :

Construct 2

Studio one

Paint.net

Just getting started.

No idea on a concept yet.

Using Unity and photoshop, don’t have a plan for music yet.

Good luck, all!

Just started with gamedev a few days ago

Just using LibGDX, Photoshop, and jfxr, and maybe a few other things later down the line depending how far I get.

Still waiting for a basic idea to pop into my head, just doing some standard main menu and other useless stuff

Team PurpleApes is in!

PurpleApes is in for the first time and motivated!

We will be using :

_blender/gimp

_Haxe/js

…(for the sound effect not sure yet)

Can’t fail if i don’t enter! (y)

Im in and using:

Python with pygame for programing

Programing in Eclipse with pydev

Gimp for graphics

LMMS for music (never used this program before…)

Audacity for other sound stuffs

First LD where im able to use all the time! :)

Im in

This is my second Ludum dare, but my first attempt at the compo.

Will be using:

  • Unity(C#)
  • Gimp
  • NeoTextureEdit
  • sfxr
  • Audacity
  • Visual Studio Express 2010
  • Notepad++

Good luck everyone!

Thinking on music

My fist ludum dare!

Gabique, the assets for the game!

Andrews, the code!

I will make the soundtrack, fx!

Good Jam!

48 Hour Compo! Please feel free to examine my HTML 5 game engine!

HTML5

I probably should have shared this earlier, but this year I will be participating using my own engine I’ve put together in HTML 5 over the past year or so.  As is only fair, I’d like to share with you the “blank” version of my engine I’m starting off my game with!  You may download the JS files here!

This is more or less an enhanced version of the engine I used during LD29 to make Strawberry in the Underworld.  It features MUCH better handling of sprite animations, a basic structure for Axis-Aligned Bounding Boxes, and has a bunch of added functions that just make it easier for me to use.  I apologize that I have no form of documentation outside of code comments, but if you can manage to work out the inner workings in time to use for this jam, feel free!  And let me know! I would feel so honored!

Good luck to everybody who’s participating!  The theme definitely promises some interesting entries and I look forward to playing them!

-Alex Mankin

After 4 hours of straight work…

screen

Wow! A circle!

I’m probably biting myself in the butt using C++ in a game jam, AND being a newbie to SDL. But the learning experience is what counts, right?

Anyway, I mostly did base code today, so the work is behind-the-scenes. Hopefully I’ll be able to implement all the ideas I have planned.

-cy4n

I do what I want

As previously stated I am restricted by time due to work and entering the jam

maybe, I honestly dont care, I got it in my head that the theme was going to be “dont stop moving” and came up with jezzball on my apple II, and that’s what I am doing…

may or may not enter it in the jam, but darnit Im making a game this weekend

1Mhz Mos 6502, 64k apple II using applesoft basic

Let’s Do This!

I don’t have much time, but I want to make something silly and fun. Been a while since I’ve done this, should be interesting. Good luck everybody! 😀

I’m in… maybe

Mmh, not exactly thrilled with the theme. I’m gonna have to think about it for a while. I don’t want to just make an LttP or Quantum Conundrum look-and/or-play-alike.

If I enter, I’m probably going straight for the jam this time because I hate creating art and would rather use someone else’s. Even though I have work on Monday and won’t be able to do anything for most of it.

Watch me make a game.

Hello,  just a quick little post here.

If you are interested in watching me make a game for ludum dare live, then click here: http://www.twitch.tv/crafting4u/

Have a good ludum dare! :)

I’m in, first time

First Ludum Dare here. Since I don’t have much free time this weekend, my personal goal will be to make anything that resembles a game using Rust and OpenGL. I’m not even sure if I’ll get that far :). I plan to base my code off of the examples in the gl-rs repository and see where that takes me.

Good luck everyone!

I know I am late, but I am entering the jam if that’s possible

I and two others are entering the Jam. I tried making a post earlier, but couldn’t get the page to load.

We’re using Unity.

The concept is super basic. Hit some switches, a door opens, congrats you won here’s a virtual cookie.

So there ya go!

Don’t worry, the “I’m in!” posts aren’t mandatory. Best of luck!

Here we go again

Hey folks,

this is my second Ludum Dare and I hope this time my game gets better than last 😀

I will use GIMP, Unity3D and Blender. I will code in C#.

I’m in LD30. UE4

I’m joining the compo this time not the jam, with ue4, sfxr, musicgen.py, and photoshop.

Time to feed the cats and then get started!

Oh im a wee bit late. oops

LD30

I don’t know if I’ll make anything that is actually a game. Might just take this as an excuse to work on my project. Either way, here’s my code base: https://github.com/nguillemot/ng

IF YOU ARE USING UNREAL ENGINE 4

COME BY THE #LDUE4 IRC CHANNEL ON AFTERNET (same server as #ludumdare) TO SHARE TIPS AND HELP

k thanks bye

Oops

Forgot to do my I’m In!, but I’m In!

Doing the jam 2-man style with @thedogofdoom.

Cya in 72.

Here we go!!

I’ve decided I’m fed up with my platformer trend, and that I was going to get more creative with my mechanic design.

Connected Worlds gave me an opportunity to shine in this regard.

Also, I’m running on the handicap that is the lack of my artsy sidekick, so I’m going to stick to pastel colored shapes. That worked pretty well for us in Mind Your Business.

I’m too tired for good writing. Here’s a picture of a page in my notebook outlining the basic game mechanic.

That’s a working title. I’ll work on that later.

Off to Unity!

Good luck, friends! :)

looks like you and I had similar ideas. I like the thought of literally tethering entire planets together, it has a sort of Carmen Sandiego level of disregard for physics.

Three ideas so far

In very little time I already have 3 ideas I kind of like. I’m not quite sure where to go with them, but maybe as I write them out they will solidify.

1) Space game. Since the theme is connected worlds, it can lean away from being a trading/dogfighting game, and maybe to something else. A wormhole between an alien planet and earth, and how that affects the two worlds. Might take a bit too long to build this into a workable game foundation but we’ll see.

2) Sokoban style puzzler. What you do in one world affects the next, but the logic of what does what where isn’t spelled out. Destroying one kind of block may create that block in the other world, while another type of block will be destroyed in both. Possibly one of the worlds is fairly abstract, but the other world is more realized – you make abstract choices and then see what that actually means in the realized world.

3) Something to do with hacking/social networking/a fake mmo. I’ve always wanted to build a game around these ideas but never have gotten far with it. The “connected worlds” of our different spheres of life.

I am in.

Using Java in Eclipse (LibGDX), Photoshop for assets. We’ll see what for audio if I have time… hopefully :).

Will be using some utility code for my last project (2D animations and such) https://copy.com/q1SJnlTfVkQq.

Since the beginning of time…

Since the beginning of time two worlds have coexisted side by side.  The environment from each world is inherently deadly to creatures of the other world which was enough to keep the peace for a time, with small skirmishes taking place at the gaps between the worlds.  However, creatures from one world were warlike and crafty, building ships capable of breaching the gaps, enslaving and devouring creatures from the other.  For a long time the creatures from the second world were nearly powerless against the invaders, with millions taken into captivity and devoured.  The large ships are nearly unstoppable and the besieged creatures powerless against their invaders.

Things, however, are changing…  It is time for the enslaved to strike back!

One of the enslaved, enraged by the destruction of the world he loves vows vengeance.  It is time for the underwater world to strike back against the ships of the overair!

I give you…

Hadn’t been planning on it, but I guess I’m in.

Hadn’t expected a good theme, nor that I’d even want to now that gamedev is my day job.

Entry will be in Javascript+HTML5. Possibly WebGL, we’ll see!

I’m in!

My first Ludum Dare! Wooh!

Tools, for this compo:

– I Choose You: “Processing”

————–

Interesting theme, did a quick google search and these were the images that stuck out to me:

Found this one in particular quite funny:

However, I am digging some of these other-world concept-art looking environments.

Started a repository to track my progress here: https://bitbucket.org/hanleyweng/ludumdare30

Looking forward to seeing everyone’s games and processes!

We’re in!

Hey there friends! Me and my friend are going to be in the game jam. Maybe we’ll stream – if our internet allows :p.

We’re gonna be using Unity and Blender.

Good luck to everyone!!

PS: Do I have to sign anywhere in order to be in the jam? Or can I simply start making our game, use any registered account then submit it? Thanks.

Thanks! good luck

Ludum Dare is the best…

Something about Ludum Dare makes me really want to make games quickly. I’ve tried other game jams but the feeling is just not the same. Maybe it’s the scale. Maybe it’s the history. When I take part in Ludum Dare I’m able to work so much faster than ever. I love this jam. The basic workings of my game are already in place. Time for bed now…

Good luck everyone!

Dependencies for beginners

I’ve now added all the dependencies im planing to use in my project :)

These are all libraries I will use (for now ;))
Dependencies

Hope you have ideas just like me 😀

I had a neat idea..

You move a piece on a game board.. it’s just a piece, right?  It’s not like it’s another person, with their own life and desires.  But what if it is?  What if the pieces on your gameboard are real, and live in their own worlds?  And what if, in some other world, on somebody else’s game board, you’re a piece too?

Going to use Unity3d.  Maybe GameDraw to do some  models, with TNET for the networking.

New World

Here is the design template  for my game. A lot of people do games about space, but I am going to connect the  Old World and  the New World. Build fleet, trade goods, kill pirates or be a pirate. Hope you will enjoy the action.

I am going to post game as HTML5 on github, amidoitright?

Here we go!

For once I’m feeling quite good about my idea. It may not be the most original, but it’s based on something I’d like to make for years.

Start of the first script!

Ludum Dare 30 – Compo – I’m in !!!

Hey there !

So, first post for the third LD I do… well in fact I tempted five before and quit two for lacking ideas.
This time though, I’m definitely in !

I’ll be using :

– Photoshop (with FRENDEN Brush Tools I think)
– Spriter
– Audacity
– Music Studio 2 (maybe, not sure yet)
– And most of all Construct 2

My concept for “Connected Worlds” ? Here it is :

Interesting isn’t it ? (Yeah you can’t see nothing, that’s what so interesting. Plus it’s in french…)
For the moment, it’s time to sleep, a good night on it will surely help.

I’ll be live on twitch during the all process, and making a timelapse of it too… ’cause timelapses are cool.

I’m in belatedly

Despite having the flu for the past 4 days I’m starting to come better now and might attempt to do a little game around some of the stuff  I’m obligated to do this weekend. I’ll will be using Unity as per usual. Good luck everyone!
