LD30 August 22–25, 2014

We’re in

This will be my 4th LD (and the second in a team), and I chose to learn from past mistakes, so this is what I’ll be using:

Engine: my own FataMirage point ‘n’ click engine. It’s MIT-licend, so grab it here: https://github.com/jalgamestudios/FataMirage. FataMirage allows you to create point’n’click-adventures solely using XML. Or, at least, it should do so if it was finished, which it is not. I’m still working on it and I hope I’ll be done with the abolute necesssary features be this friday. Because it’s boring to only use XML, I’ll be adding new features during the ludum dare (don’t expect me to commit them, because they will be coded so poorly that I’ll have to clean them up before making them public

Graphcis: propably Paint.NET to create160x90 pixel art scenes, and maybe Maya to create some rough 3d models of the scene

Music: I absolutely have no clue (I’m not the one who does the music), but if I remember correctly, he planned to remix some freely avilably music. I don’t really know the rules, so my question: Is it allowed to remix music in the jam?

Platforms: FataMirage is build with MonoGame, which unfortunately doesn’t run well in a browser (I’m not sure if there is a way at all to do it), but I’ll do my best to get FataMirage running on as many platforms as possible: Windows, Windows Store, Windows Phone Store, Google Play, Nokia X (do you even know what that is?) and, if I find a way to make the game work with the contoller, even the Ouya. My plan is to submit the game to the various marketplaces by late sunday, so hopefully you’ll all be able to enjoy the game on whatever platform you like (sorry, Apple users, but there is no Mac avilable to compile nor the money to buy Xamarin…)

The Jam is a lot more relaxed. I would imagine that remixing music for the Jam is perfectly fine :)

OK, thanks a lot!

I’m in too!

This is the first Ludum Dare I have ever done and I will be doing the 48 hour contest. I am 11 years old and I am excited to do this! (I might do the 72 hour one but I think not :/)

Engine: Unity3D

Language: C#

Graphics: PhotoShop / Gimp

Modeling: Blender

Audio: Windows 8 Audio Recorder

Other Devices:

  • Wacom Bamboo Tablet
  • Yeti Stereo Microphone
  • Windows 7 Laptop

So that’s it! Wish me luck :D

Back in Stack

This is the 2nd LD for me. Not sure if I’ll stick to compo or try using more time for more quality in the jam… but just in case, I’ll declare my toolkit in advance:

(and the associated libraries)

Also, code: GitHub and Pastebin; GIMP, Sublime Text, possibly Blender, FL Studio.

I’d like to try making a 3D game this time. Not sure if it’s a good idea per se but it would surely be a pleasant change after so much 2D work. The engine is just sitting there unused with all the work. To give an idea of its state, here’s another game prototype built on it:

tank game

Potato Salad challenge

Did you vote for the POTATO SALAD theme?

With POTATO SALAD, your game is guaranteed to be a success. Fact: about 100% of potato lovers dig POTATO SALAD, including the Ludum Dare organizers.

If you are a REAL game dev, then you should +1 the POTATO SALAD theme by clicking here and looking for POTATO SALAD. If you’re not a real game dev, then I hereby declare you a REAL game dev, and invite you to +1 the POTATO SALAD theme by clicking here and looking for POTATO SALAD.

And whatever the final theme is, make sure to have POTATO SALAD in your game.

For those who want to POTATO SALAD their submissions here is a non-official POTATO SALAD badge.

I’m in!

First LD, hopefully the enforced time limit helps me get focussed enough to finish something!

We’re In!

Well, this is my 3rd LD, and this will be my teammates first LD. I have a team of 4 people and we are probably going to focus more on an artsy 2D game instead of a 3D one this time (but that may change). Here is how we will be getting around:

Unity3D

Gimp (2.8 (because we are to lazy to update it))

Audacity

MonoDevelop

Brackets/Sublime Text

sfxr

So, yeah.

I’m in!

This is my first LD Compo. One of the reasons why i want to take part of it is because i want to test my skills. Let’s see how it’s gonna come out.

Engine: Unity3D

Code: C# MonoDevelop

Graphics: Paintshop or Paint.NET

Models: Blender

Audio: Audacity

Platform: Pretty sure i’ll make it for web or windows.

4th Time – I’m In!

This will be my forth time entering Ludum Dare and the first time that I’ll be live streaming the entire time.

Weapons of Choice:

Game Engine – Unity3d.

Graphics – Photoshop, GIMP and Inkscape.

Music and SFX – FLStudio and FakeMusicGenerator.com.

Promgramming Language – C#.

So what I’m hoping for is a theme that will push my limits.

Tosic is in for LD #30, and now it’ serious!

Ahoy, fellas!

Thats right, I am in for this LD, it my second time and I am gonna participate while being on my vacation!

Since my last LD #48 didn’t go so well I hope to do well this time!

Here is what I am gonna use:

Engine: Unity 3D

Language: C#

Graphic: Paint

Models: Blender and MakeHuman

Audio: SFXR

Good luck to all of you, I’m looking forward to LD#30 :D!!!

// Tosic is out!

We’re in (to Jam)!

Time for me and two other to lose our LD virginity! All three of us are doing Games Computing in University and we have done different jams in the past.

Time to test our “skills” on a new jam.

Engine: Unity

LanguageC#

Sound/Music: Sileblius or Fruity Loop or Other (Depending on theme)

Art: Lord knows right now :) A variety of things.

Platform: Windows, maybe also Web Player too

Stream?: May run a stream, it depends on the location and internet connection. If it is, it will be at Twitch

I am hoping this first attempt goes well and hope all participants have fun :) Themes that have come up in the voting are very interesting and we can only hope we get something interesting.

I’m in!

I’m focusing on having fun this time. The last few times I over thought everything, second guessed at every corner and straight up didn’t finish. But this time, I’m going to just have fun!

Code: I’ll be using Clickteam Fusion 2.5

Music:Don’t know, maybe Logic if I want to do something serious, otherwise one of the many 8bit nes sounding thingys out there.

Sound: Same as music, guess I’ll have to do a little research. Lol.

Art: I’ll probably use Pixelmator on my Mac and Sprite Something on my iPad.

I just bought the HTML 5 exporter for Fusion, so I’d like to try using that for people to play. Otherwise it’ll be an executable, which would stink because people generally don’t wanna do that. :-/

Looking forward to this, and I hope we choose a great theme!! Kisses.

Count me in (again)!

Gearing up for my third LD! 😀

Engine: Unity (C#)

Music/SFX: GarageBand, Audacity, cfxr

Art: Pixen and/or Pixelmator

Platform: Not sure yet!

What Have I DOne?

I have made so much more this morning that any other time in the past week

I need some clarifications on the rules please

So I am PRETTY sure I can, but am I allowed to use GarageBand to make music for my game (48 hour comp, not the jam), and can I use these things:

Engine: Unity3D

Modeling: Blender

Texturing: PhotoShop/Gimp

Also can I use my Wacom Bamboo Tablet? I think I can I am just making sure. And also for Unity3d when they say “Include the Source Code” should I just include the whole project’s contents or what?

Yes, you can. As long as you’re not stealing melodies / lyrics from other songs, you are good to go!

It may not be important in a “will go to jail” sense, but it is not fair play and totally misses the point of the compo. If you want to reuse assets besides the parts that are explicitly allowed (e.g. fonts, instrument samples), please, please, please do the jam, not the compo.

Yes you can use the software you’ve listed.

The primary purpose of the rules for Ludum Dare are to get you to make a game that is entirely your own. This is beneficial as it means you should always have the option of expanding any LD entry of yours into a fuller experience and selling it for money without having to worry about legal disputes later on.

There’s really no money changing hands over the course of the Ludum Dare (unless you count Ludum Deals or donations to the folks who run the site), so nobody ever really has solid reason to get up in arms over minor violations of rules or policies.

I’m in

This is my second ludum dare ^^
OK I guess I’ll use again my directx basic framwork which I can share [it’s pretty basic]:

https://github.com/g–o/LudumDare

All code I’ll use will be here: https://github.com/g–o/LudumDare

For sound:

I’m gonna record with my new keyboard P: and maybe some guitar!

For art:

Gonna use the gfxTablet application for my tablet in case I’d have to draw some art

Or gonna do some pixel art.

I think it’s gonna be fun [My first ludum dare was the #27, it’s good to be back]!

Happy Ludum Dare 30!

This is my first Game Jam ever

Yep, i’m doing it alone. I will use HTML5/JS (i don’t know which framework i’m going to use yet, probably a custom one or Phaser), PhotoShop CS4 for the art and bfxr for audio.

Wish me luck :(

Cool man!

I’m in again!

This will be my second LD. I was relatively satisfied with my last outing, but am hoping for a better performance this time. My Tools:

Unity

AESPRITE

GIMP

Audacity

iTween (possibly)

A* Path Finding (possibly)

Trello (I would quite possibly finish nothing without some kind of planning tool)

Happy Jamming Y’all!

I’m (iA) in!

Hey everybody. I’m still looking to actually finish a game for the first time. I tried last year but I hit my usual issue of always hating my game idea halfway through, or just finding it to be more trouble than it’s worth. That, and the LD weekends seem to coincide with family events and stuff. But Ludum Dare is something that gets me to try, so here I am again.

This time, it seems it’s gonna be a sibling team effort, so that’s making things a little awesomer for me. It also means that we’re entering the jam and not the compo. So yeah, looking forward to that.

Even if you hate the idea half way through, keep with it. It could be better than you think in your mind, and finishing a game is awesome!

I’m in for the 48h

First Ludum Dare!

Engine: Construct 2

Graphics: PyxelEdit (awesome! you should try it!)

Audio: BFXR, audacity, LMMS (freesound, looperman, etc.)

GLHF!
