LD28 December 13–16, 2013

I’m in

I’m going to work on something super super simple this time to ensure I at least finish.

I’ll be using:

Library: Haxe with openFL

Editor: intelliJ Community Edition

Graphics: Pixelmator

Sound: I have no idea!

OS: OSX Mavericks

See you on the other side!

Second Time

I’m in, terribly excited, and abandoning all sorts of responsibilities to be a part of it.

Tools:

  • Development: Construct 2
  • Graphics: Paint.NET, Pickle
  • Sound: sfxr or bfxr or whichever I can figure out during the final scramble
  • Music: Reason

I’n im.

> Obligatory and obvious “I’m in” statement incoming

Can’t wait for LD28, hope it goes well for everyone!

I’m in for #28

Was waiting for it too long, I’m already kinda addicted to LD48 :) My last entry unveiled that I need to give much more attention to gameplay itself rather than the art or code so this time I’ll try to keep art and coding as simple as possible and give more attention to the lacking aspects – gameplay, theme, and interaction.

My tools are the same as before:

  • JavaScript (coffeescript) + Pixi.js for coding
  • Photoshop for art
  • Bfxr for sounds
  • My own application skeleton which is available at Github (needs some last minute touches though)

Good luck to you all and have fun!

doin it

The usual. Should actually have the whole weekend this time.

Focused on mechanics last dare and music before that. Maybe I’ll work on art more this time.

3rd Time In.

GUNNA DO DIS!

  • Language: Java
  • IDE: Eclipse
  • Libs: LWJGL and stuff.
  • GFX: Paint.net
  • SFX: sfxr

I may aswell just have the list on my clipboard since I use those tools every time.

Good luck everyone, and may the odds never be in your favor ;D

I’m ready!

This is gonna be my first Ludum Dare. I have only been doing the MiniLDs, so now I’m feeling ready for getting in to the serious part of LD.

  • Language: Java
  • IDE: Eclipse
  • Art: Paint.NET
  • Sounds: BFXR
  • Music: Ableton

I will be livestreaming on Twitch as HonestyGames, so follow me please!

Can’t wait for tomorrow 😀

I might be in

I’m not sure if it’s too late to open source code to use in the ludum dare, I’m also not even sure if I will be able to participate.

I tried participating in #27, but learning SDL, OpenGL at the same time as making a game from scratch was… not doable.

Since then, I played around making a graphics engine, and learning SDL2.0, putting together a framework.

It’s still WIP, and rudimentary.

The code is hosted here: https://bitbucket.org/swarminglogic/sdl2-gamedev

A quick writeup on it here: http://swarminglogic.com/jotting/2013_10_gamedev01

I wouldn’t recommend anyone to use it :D, as pretty much any other framework is easier to use, and more powerful.

“Give a man a game engine and he delivers a game. Teach a man to make a game engine and he never delivers anything.”

So, would it be ok to participate using this code?

I’m In!

Giving it another go – hopefully this time I’ll be able to plan smaller.

Base code is on Github and consists of a pair of projects, one abandoned and one very early, using Livescript to manipulate an HTML Canvas. There’s most of a game in there, though I only expect to re-use the sprite and scene management parts.

I’ll be going with the “No Violence” theme too, whatever the main theme is. Should be interesting.

I really like your idea of using the No Violence regardless. I think i’ll do the same. UNLESS Chaos is the theme. Then i’ll just go with nothing but violence. Lol.

doing it!

I’m doing this thing this weekend.

Doing it all on my Mac for the first time. Here is what I will be using.

Stencyl for the engine. Only just started tinkering with it but I think I will be able to complete some sort of game with it. I’m both excited and terrified by this, so we will see what happens with it!

Sprite Something for my graphics. It works well between my Mac and my iPad, so I have the option of working from either. When I need a break from sitting in front of my computer, I can jump on the couch and doing some sprites from my iPad. I can even leave the HOUSE and do some graphics if I need to. That’ll be a first.

Logic Pro for my music. That’s right, original music folks. If anything, my music is going to kick bum.

I apologize up front for updates because I’m not really good at that part, but I will try to update once in a while. It’s just like how I always say I should make a journal but I never do because that’s time I’m spending NOT doing something else. Too bad we can’t just  update on twitter, that would be neat. Maybe what i’ll do this time is just keep this window open at all times so I can type in it. How’s that? Sound like a plan? Okay, good.

Peace be with you all. I look forward to Sunday/Monday night when I get to spend a month playing your awesome games! Joy!!!!!

Ahoy. Captain Speaks. I’m in.

Ahoy everybody.

For the first stime, I will participate for the LD28.

I tried to participate, but each time an unexpected thing had to ruin everything.
But not this time, I am ready, like my body.

I will work with the following stuff :

If i’m inspired by 3D stuff (or simple 2D stuff) :

Unity3D (C#)

else

LibGDX (Java)

For sound i’ll use bfxr (like everybody I think x) ), Photoshop or Paint or Paint.net for graphics.

I’ll probably use an architecture like the one I used for my Torch Engine (but simplified) : https://bitbucket.org/darkandlightstudio/torch-engine/src

I wish good luck to everybody. I’ll twitch/livetweet( @nakou ) /liveVine this 48h experience and I’ll be on IRC too.

Can’t wait :D.

I’m in for my first Ludum Dare !

I’m in for my first Ludum Dare !

Tools:

  • Development: Construct 2
  • Graphics: Photoshop
  • Sound: sfxr
  • Music: (I’m not sure yet, probably a tool that allows you to create 16-bits music)

It will be awesome !

In for #28

I enjoyed shark jam enough to not be able to pass this up.

I’ll be using:

  • LibGdx nightly
  • Artemis (with PooledComponent from Artemis-odb merged in)
  • Lua via Luaj (http://luaj.org/luaj/README.html)
  • I might use either DarkTree or Procedurality Engine to generate some content (http://oddlabs.com/procedurality.php)
  • If the theme is really good: Blender python scripts in my github repo for exporting object properties/id-props/bge setup/etc (Blender-python)
  • If the theme is kinda lame: The Opal/LibGdx and Demina / DRT stuff in my github repos

GitHub: http://github.com/JSandusky

AND SOUNDS!!!!!

forgot about sounds. I’m using bfxr.net

Ludum Dare #28? We’re so far behind already?!

Years passed since I took part in Ludum Dare. It’s time to change that.
As always, I’ll be probably using Multimedia Fusion 2 since I know it the most. I’m gonna play a bit with extensions for it, too. Should be fun 😀
Still haven’t decided on other editors yet though. I’ll probably go with sfxr again? We’ll see. In any case, if you have any ideas, shoot.
I’m not probably gonna stream this time either… But timelapse should be fine, right?!

I’ll say it with Unity

I’m in(Unity Webplayer)

I will be using Unity obviously 😀

Sound :sfxr

Graphics: Photoshop CS6, Paint, Paint.Net, Blender(maybe)

I will most likley join the jam as I might get help with music.

Nice! Good effort :)

I’m in. 3rd time in a row.

  • #26 was a compo for “minimalism” (view entry).
  • #27 was a jam  for “ten seconds” (view entry).
  • #28 will be a compo!

I will be using:

  • code and animations: Unity (4.3 woop woop)
  • sounds: bfxr
  • graphics: one of the many free pixel edit tools on the webs or doteditor on ipad
  • music: pixitracker on ipad
  • stream here

Questions:

  • What do people recommend for hosting?
  • How are these hosting sites (kongregate, etc) when it comes to updating versions?
  • Are they ok with Unity games?

Guess my first Ludum Dare is this one

Well, I need more reasons to finish projects and have wanted to do LD before so here is my first one.

I’m going to be making videos showing development each day over the 72 hour jam

Tools I will be using

  • Unity
  • Photoshop

that is all conglaturation
