LD33 August 21–24, 2015

In Again

This will hopefully be my 7th LD game.

Will be using some base code I’ve been refining over the last few competitions (and in my spare time), it’s available here.

Code: C using SDL2 and OpenGL, Visual Studio 2013 for IDE and compiler.
Art: Paint.net mostly, maybe Spine and TexturePacker
Sound: BFXR, Audacity, and autotracker.py

Hello everyone :)

Hello there !

I’ll be part of the 33th Ludum Dare this week. This will be my first LD.
I’m a French “game-developer” (I try to do my best :x). I have a Twitch channel (wRadion) and I’ll be streaming my progress live.

Tools I’m using :

  • Engine : Monogame/XNA
  • Langage : C#
  • Audio : as3sfxr, FL Studio
  • Graphics : Photoshop

If anyone has some tips for my first LD, feel free to comment !

Good luck to everyone and have fun !

Thanks,
wRadion

Hello!

I’m in for the first time ever :D

After lurking at LD for about 2 years now, I finally decided to participate 😛

Will be using Unity, some horrible programmer art and self voice acting. Oh and I might even stream :)

Second time, I’m in.

I will be using GameMaker Studio, sfxr, and either the default sprite creator in GM or paint.net, both of which are way to fancy for my skill level.

First Ludum Dare for PFC!

Its coming up fast, and we’ve held out as long as we can before making this post in case anything crops up to stop us taking part. The team at Pangean Flying Cactus is officially in! This is our first time taking part in Ludum Dare (we planned to try it in April, but school deadlines got in the way), and will hopefully result in the first game that we actually finish as a team! Over the past two years we’ve built many demos and gadgets to develop our skills, and come up with tons of ideas, and now we feel we’re finally ready to produce something with a little polish.

Our Team:

  • Dean James – Dean will primarily handle the coding / development side of things, researching and messing around with mechanics and functions to make the game work and, hopefully, remain fun!
  • Sam Mottram – I will be responsible for the creative side of the project, creating sprites, tiles and backgrounds, working on level designs, and developing any story elements the game may have. If need be, I will support Dean on the programming side, or work on sound and music development (the area I’m least comfortable in).

Tools of the Trade:

  • Engine / Editor – Stencyl
  • Graphics – GIMP, PyxelEdit, GraphicsGale, TileStudio (Possibly Krita)
  • Sound – BFXR
  • Music – Bosca Ceoil, LMMS

Follow Along:

We will be posting updates on development to our official (and brand-spanking new!) social media outlets on Facebook and Twitter, and I (Sam) will be streaming the creative side of things over Twitch on my personal account.

We wish everyone taking part all the best, and look forward to trying out all the amazing games that will surely come out of this. Good luck!

We’re in, GET HYPE!

We’ve been preparing our codebase for the past week: tweaking libraries, fixing bugs, etc. Now that we’re only two days away, it’s time to GET HYPE! For our jam entry, We’ll be using the following tools:

Framework: LÖVE3D (a 3D extension of the LÖVE framework)
Language: Lua
Editor: Atom
Graphics: Blender
Audio: BFXR

We will be streaming all 72 hours of development on Twitch, so check us out!

You can check out our GitHub, Twitter (@LandonManning, @shakesoda), and dev blog as well!

You can also check out our LD32 entry here.

Armageddon

There have been many powerful developers throughout the millennia.

But ages of Ludum Dare have begun to tear the fabric of the realms. The critical point has finally been reached.

It was foreseen that developers would one day grow too powerful and too numerous.

If left unchecked, their intensifying development would weaken and shatter the realms and bring about the apocalypse.

The Elder Gods demanded a safeguard put in place to avoid total destruction. One that would make use of the developers’ insatiable bloodlust.

Like moths to flame, they would be drawn to battle. At the apex of destruction, alliances will be broken, and old hatreds will be revived.

At last, it has come to this final battle.

Armageddon has begun.

LD33

A new participant has entered the Ludum Dare #33

Hello,
I am new to Ludum Dare and it will be my first public (and solo) GameJam. I will use Unity, sfxr, GraphicsGale, Tiled and Tiled2Unity. I am a programmer and I hope to make a Game you can enjoy even a little :).

Happy Ludum!

Count me in!

Looking forward to my first time in Ludum Dare! Been teaching myself Unity for a couple months now and this is a good a time as any to see what I can do under a deadline. It will be good motivation to take something from start to finish. :)

Welcome and good luck! :)

Every Year

Ludumdare never fails to sneak up on me haha!

Be Gentle.

Hello!

This will be my first attempt. I’ve been wanting to do this for a while, but finally decided to give this a shot.

I’ve never done a compo  like this, so I’m shooting to just finish something on time. Wish me luck!

I’ll need it! I think I’ll be using Construct 2 / bfxr / Gimp and about 40 pots of Coffee.

P.S.

I’ll take any advice you veteran’s out there can throw at me!

You’ll have a great time, this is one of the best communities of devs out there for honest support and kind critics to help you improve, even after the 48 hours are over.

I am in! #33

For the first time, I will participate in this awesome adventure!

My Tools of choice:

Engine/Editor: Eclipse with the libGDX engine
Graphics: Gimp and my trusty graphics tablet
Audio: Audacity and Bfxr

I will try to livestream all 48 hours but may have to turn it off again due to bad internet connections.

Media with updates:
I will post some screenshots and such over at my Twitter account @Teekeks
As explained above, I will most likely also livestream on Twitch: http://www.twitch.tv/teekeks42

Lets hope that this will be a successful first entry into Ludum Dare.

I’m in!

I will use Haxe and OpenFl, maybe HaxeFlixel, but that depends on the game.

I will probaly use some of my libs https://github.com/juakob

Tentatively in

Busy this weekend, will try and make a little 3 hour game or something, depending on the theme.

Engine: LOVE2D

Editor: Notepad++

Sound: Bfxr?

I’ll probably be reusing a couple of my lua libraries, located at github.com/deltaf1/love-libraries. These are libraries for things such as 2D vctor manipulation and basic gamestate switching. Not sure If I’m entering in Compo or jam, but that’s my basecode declared if I enter the compo.

First time for everything

With this being my first Ludum Dare and the first game I plan to finish, my jam for this jam is of course “Dare to be Stupid”.

Giving it another Shot.

Last time compo I was so excited to participate, I was ready way in advance. I worked out the bugs in my library ahead of time, which is opensource and available for everyone to download (http://bitbucket.org/dduvall/love-fw) which includes some simple game mechanics and screens for reference. I started working on the project and quickly lost interest in my game idea when it came to creating the artwork and audio. I was so focused on the programming (I am a software engineer after all) that I completely ignored the artistic portion of game development. Seeing a game that is playable and contains no audio or art is rather boring (depending on the type of game, I love me some “Zork” every now and again)

I guess what I am saying is, I have worked on my graphic skills a little, and researched some tools for audio on linux (I will most likely record audio from my keyboard, and just manipulate it with Ardour and Audacity) This time focusing little on the programming. I absolutely hate ugly code, but this weekend is not about pretty and correct code. This weekend is about creating something, warts and all. A game, something playable and interactive, creative and thoughtful. I will try my best to not give up and call it quits. Even if 10 hours into my project I think the idea is lame, or if I loose interest in the project or theme all together. I will finish and submit something. (Even if it sucks balls, I will finish this)

My setup:

  • Operating System: Ubuntu 15.04 Something went wrong D: I have to switch to windows when I get home >.<
  • Audio Equipment & Software: Alesis Interface io4, Yamaha Clavinova CVP-305, Wechter Pathmaker Thinline, Renoise or Ardour, Audacity, Bfxr, & FreeSound.org (For samples)
  • Graphics Equipment & Software: Huion H610PRO & Gimp 2.8
  • Game Engine: Love2D + love-fw (my own library on top of love2d, for entity management etc.)
  • Dev Tools: ZeroBrain Studio, don’t forget to donate if you use it 😉 it’s awesome
  • Food & Drink: Hot Pockets, Pizza, Water and COFFEE! Pots and Pots of Coffee.
  • Sleep: Little to None, Sleep is for the weak 😛 (And those without insomnia)

Wish me luck.

I’m In

I’m in.

This is my second full Ludum Dare (have also done a few Mini LD’s). Last time I was sick the whole weekend, so I made about the least ambitious game in history. I’m really looking forward to seeing what I can do now that I don’t feel like complete garbage.

-Unity3d
-Visual Studio
-Bosca Ceoil / BFXR / Audacity
-ArtRage / Pickle / GIMP
-Coffee / Black Tea
-Donuts / More Donuts

We’re In!

This will be my friend and I’s first Ludum Dare and we’re hyped to participate! I’d also like to mention I’ll be streaming during most of the development process at https://twitch.tv/firewolf11567. And the entire stream will be recorded and posted at https://youtube.com/firewolf11567.

Our Team:

  • John “DjKira” – I will be doing all of the programming, general development, research, and art during the duration of this jam.
  • Drew “Darobs” – Drew will be helping me out during the designing process and will be creating all of the music

Tools of the Trade:

  • Engine – Unity3D
We’ll be using the Unity Engine during this jam due to us having the most experience in the engine.
  • Programming Language – C#
  • Graphics – Photoshop CC, Blender
  • Sound – Audacity
  • Music – FLStudio

I’m In! Third time’s the charm :)

This is my third Ludum Dare! I can’t believe I’ve done a year’s worth of these things already, since my first in December…

I’ll be using Unity (as always), Visual Studio (much better than MonoDevelop), GIMP, Pyxel Edit, maybe Blender (most likely not, 3D is somewhat out of my reach for a 48-hour project), FL Studio (if I can figure out how to use it in time) and Bfxr.

The plan is to get up just before the theme is announced (which is 2am here in England, so I’ll be waking up around midnight!), then I’ll wallow around in a mess of sleeplessness, sloppy code, various empty food wrappers and depleted beverage containers for 48 hours. Maybe I’ll even have a game done by the end…

Happy loo-dum-dah-ray-ing , everyone!

I’m *so* in

Once more, I shall Dare to Ludum. This time I made sure that nothing gets in my way so I can Ludum properly.

Weapons of choice:

  • Unity or HaxeFlixel, depends on the idea.
  • Paint.net
  • Blender
  • Sketch-Up
  • GarageBand
  • sfxr or some derivative like cfxr

And that’s pretty much it. Hope you all have a great Ludum Dare :)
