Yo! Champs in the making! I’ve been watching Ludum Dares for a while now, and I’ve done some small games here and there for various jams. I always wanted to join LD for some time, but there was always an excuse.
Well no more! All has been put on the side for TOTAL FOCUS ON #LD48!!! I’ll be streaming the whole thing live on my Twitch channel twitch.tv/shikatozi in an effort to show the game dev process with fam/friends. I look forward to just having a good time making a cool game. I also can’t wait to play everyone else’s games over the coming weeks!
AIGHT! LET’S DO THIS!!!!
Language: C++
Library: SFML
IDE: Visual Studio 2012
Graphics: Gimp
Audio: Audacity
Hoping to participate, other commitments allowing. The usual tools:
Commence creativity!
Remember that show Polaris/Maker tried to make a month ago? The game jam show? Well, in honor of the original concept of that show, I think each of us should make our own Mini-Docs explaining our process and following our project start to finish. They wouldn’t need to be hour long epic tales of hardship and heart break, just a five to ten minute “Hey, I made -Game Name- and this is how I made it” or what ever you see fit.
Look forward to seeing them!
Good luck and happy LD!
I will be in this LD48! I think this is my third time entering a non-mini LD, so far I succeeded once. I hope to succeed once again, but this time making an enjoyable game (last one was playable, but very short).
Tools of the trade:
Programming: Visual C++ 2010 (libraries: SDL for cross platform windowing, OpenGL graphics, OpenAL sound)
Graphics: Paint.NET, MS Paint, Inkscape
Audio: sfxr, Audacity, suggestions for music composition are very welcome!
Good luck everyone! Have fun!
My.. hmm, 10th time stepping up to the plate. Exciting! Especially as I’d managed to miss the last couple. This should be good
Code: C
Platforms: Windows, Linux and OSX (hopefully)
Library: A hand-rolled lightweight opengl thing ‘whitgl‘
Art: Gimp
Audio: FLStudio, Audacity, sfxr
Gravity: 9.78 m/s²
I skipped the previous Ludum Dare (the biggest mistake in my life…), but this time I am more prepared, this time I have tools that are more suitable for rapid game development, this time I have more skills and experience, this time…
This time I will use the following tools:
Hopefully I will succeed this time…
I’ve had 1 proper ludum dare, and it was my first ludum dare ever.
For some reason, since then, it never really came back together, due to lack of time, or lack of interest, or lack of inspiration, or other less distinctive lacks.
But I really want to make another cool game. So here’s to hoping my GF doesn’t take too much of my time, I’m in a good mood, I feel like programming, so let’s do it.
I actually bought the discounted ‘Pickle 2’ to help me with pixel art. Not that the pixel art will look any better than it ever did, cause I’m a programmer! But still, I hope I can use the tool to make somewhat more interesting art.
I’ll be using:
Unity 3D
Pickle 2
And probably tools like SFVX or whatever that thing’s called which produces sound effects, as well as some overtly random music generator.
If I use the last 2 of those list, I’ll have succeeded, as that means I gotten far enough with my game to even consider putting sound and music in.
It’ll be a distinct 2D game, and I’d really love to make some kind of builder game, whether it be City Building, RTS, Spaceship building or whatever, but I’ll let that depend on how well it’ll fit into the theme.
However, I’m also considering doing a 3D game with 2D sprites (real ortagonal-like) but I’m not sure if that’ll work, and again it’ll depend on the theme.
Anyway, good luck to all, go forth and make games!
Hello, I thought I would go ahead and post so I have less of a chance to back out! This will be my first Ludum Dare, and assuming I make it through to the other side, my first ever finished game.
Still working out the kinks in my plan, but I’m likely to work with Twine or similar tools with a mixture of digital and traditional media for visuals (time permitting), and questionable home recordings for sound.
I’m looking forward to being a part of this! (-:
I’m not really sure if i’ll have the time/energy to do this ld but i’ll try. In any case, my tools will be:
I’m excited to be participating to this new LD! (No way I’m breaking my combo ^^)
I’ll have Grmpf and CPT CAPSLOCK with me once again.
Me and Grmpf will be using the Haxe language and the FlashDevelop IDE.
Photoshop or something similar will probably come into play at some point.
For the music/sound aspects, CAPSLOCK will use his magic (I actually have no idea what he’ll be using).
Have fun!
PS: Our code will be hosted here on Github.
I have created 3 playlists for this weekend’s LD29, and it occurred to me that maybe I could make them collaborative and some people might want to add stuff to them?
I’ll link to them below, they will be by SecondDimensionMusic.:
I tried to make it an eclectic mix as a starting point, but I guess I am pretty Indie in my tastes (Arcade Fire, The National etc). Still I’ve never done this sharing thing before, so it’s an interesting experiment
(So being collaborative I guess you could just add a bunch of Justin Bieber tracks, but I am willing to delete them as fast as you can add them)
I made a little game as a warmup today. It’s a 2048 imitation with slightly different rules. If you believe in higher powers or the trinity of god, this is for you. If you don’t, play it anyways.
Use your arrow keys. You have to align three tiles with the same number on them next to each other to merge them into higher powers of 3. Have fun and don’t laugh at my horrible design skills.
This will be my 4th ludum dare and the anniversary of when I started doing this.
I’ll be using;
LWjGL
Slick2D
Paint.net
http://www.ludumdare.com/compo/2013/02/19/procedural-music-generator/
Eclipse
I’m in anyway. Going solo.
The usual tools.
Streaming on twitch.tv/vegard1992
Since the last time I participated I’ve fallen in love with Python, so I thought that I would try to use Python+Pyglet this time!
For graphics, I’ll probably just use Paint.net or maybe GIMP. I’m not that good at drawing, but luckily you don’t need to be to make a good looking game! Just look at Thomas Was Alone, simplistic graphics, but it still looks great!
Audio and music is always something that seems to get the short end of the stick when you’re pressed with time. If I get a lot of time over I will probably try to do something cool with the audio, but otherwise, it’s probably going to be at the bottom of the list. The sound effects will probably be generated with sfxr or bfxr.
That’s all, hope to see you on the “battlefield”!
I’m in.
I’ll probably be using my latest HTML5/JS engine project(it’s not quite done yet, but so far, functional) which can be found here: Stone Engine
Good luck and have fun, LDers! MAKE SOMETHING! 😀
So I’ve sat idly by as countless Ludum Dares have come and gone, but this time I have the full weekend off, and I have no excuse to skip this one.
I’ll be using Unity3D, because it’s amazing. I’ll also be using an Editor extension I wrote when I was thinking about doing the last Ludum Dare called “Voxwell: A Quick Voxel Toolkit for Unity”. It basically provides a point and click interface for building voxel levels. Sort of like Minecraft creative mode in the Unity Editor.
