LD30 August 22–25, 2014

I’m in.

Tools:

Dart

StageXL

Inkscape

SunVox

Chrome

I’m in with my Roku

This will be my first Ludum Dare. First time writing a game at all. First Roku application in two years.

I am eager to see how Roku evolved in this time and if I’m able to be creative enough to create something playable.

Another guy who’s in

Yes!

What I will use:

  • C# + XNA(and then make a monogame port after the initial 48 hours(probably))
  • Visual Studio 2010
  • MS Paint + RealWorld Paint (yes, I am serious. I need to learn how to make graphics I guess.)
I probably use inkscape if I learn it in time. Or Paint.NET. Whatever.
  • pixitracker. Or blipseq. Or sunvox. I’ll see.
  • SFXR / JFXR
  • My computer and all it’s peripherals
  • Internet
  • Food & drinks
  • Sleep
  • My brains

After the weekend it’s time for school again. Nice end of vacation! 😀

My brains?

Do you have more than one brain?

I am in! (looking for a team as well)

I just started doing HTML5 three weeks ago (and have been improving every day since) and I thought having a time limit/strict theme would be a fun challenge.

Language: Javascript/HTML5

Engine: Phaser

Sprites: Asesprite (free version, I am a horrible person)

Audio: Audacity

I would not mind teaming up with someone to do code/art, be warned, I may suck. – Prepare your butts

I’m using Phaser as well and I think you’ll find that doing a game jam makes you learn A LOT about the framework your using. Good luck with the jam!

I am in..

Hey everyone!

I decided to participate in competition first time, these are the tools I’ll use:

  1. Engine: own Glow3d game engine ( glow3d.com ) and own voxel engine library.
  2. Language: C++
  3. Textures: Adobe Photoshop
  4. Audio and music: freesound.org
  5. Modelling: 3ds Max or Blender

I have a question – as I am using own game and voxel engine, should it be open sourced to participate in main competition? Or shared as library to anyone who participate? It’s still not clear for me after reading rules.

Good luck to everyone!

If I remember right from however long ago I read it, it just needs to be publicly shared. Open Source is not required.
06. Aug 2014 · 09:19 UTC
It doesn’t need to be open source. For instance, ImpactJS is a game framework that costs 99$ to use, so obviously they wouldn’t want to have someone post the code in order to use it. Just make sure that whatever you use, others can as well so we can all start on the same ‘level’ to keep it fair.

I’m volunteer!

Hello hello. My name is Martin and I’m from Poland.

This is my tools:

Engine: Unity3D

Audio: FL Studio, brfx, my own

Graphics: Photoshop, gimp

Models: Maya

and some secrets 😉

Good luck for you! @McGameStudios

Missing Ludum Dare 30 :(

I realised that I am away the week that Ludum Dare 30 is on so I made a new game (my first game) and it’s free on Kongregate

Here’s the link:

http://www.kongregate.com/games/thecallume8/thedropoff

Please play and rate and give me feedback because I really need it!

Thank you!

Congratulations on your first game, that is a fantastic accomplishment! Well done! I beat the first 25 levels then stopped. It was pretty fun. Since you asked for feedback, probably the two biggest things I noticed were:

I really liked the game! Congratulations on your first! :D. I liked how the cube moving slow but was at a perfect speed balance with the rest of the game. There’s a little collision detection on the side of the spikes but its not major.

It’s pretty tough at parts but really fun to! The idea is simple enough, but still engaging to keep me playing :)

Let’s do this!

Ludum Dare already right around the corner? Yea! Seems like the last one just finished!

This time I may be going at it alone! So I’ll have to shoot for the 48 hours and then fall back to the 72 hour jam once I realized that I, once again, underestimated how long it would take me to get something done (software right?).

Tools:

  • Unity 3D
  • Visual Studio 2013
  • Photoshop
  • Blender (if 3D)
  • Sound generators, my weakest area :(.

If I end up making a 2D platformer of some kind then it’s likely I’ll use my previously built PlayerController2D package. Besides that I might leverage any of the assets I’ve accumulated over the past year from the Unity asset store.

Exciting!

C.J.

haha, I always tend to get too ‘ambitious’ with my ideas. Good luck!

Good luck on your first LD!

I’m in!

I will be making a game for Ludum Dare 30!

Here are the tools that I will be using during the competition:

  • Language: JavaScript and HTML5
  • Game Engine: Phaser
  • Graphics: Gimp or Blender(if 3d)
  • Audio: BFXR and FL Studio Groove and  Audacity(if needed)
  • Streaming: OBS
  • Text Editor: Sublime Text 3

I’m using Phaser because I really want to focus on the game design and the assets of the game since Phaser is a really fast and simple game engine

I will also be streaming on my Twitch channel and I will also make a timelapse on my YouTube channel.

You can also follow me on Twitter to be notified when I will be starting the livestream on twitch(I will tweet updates ).

Cannot wait until the begining of the Ludum Dare 30!

I’m using Phaser as well, it’s a pretty good framework and it can be surprisingly powerful.

Doing it this year mabey

Doing the Jam with my friends. Only problem is that my new laptop arrives on the 28th.

If participating:

I just found Musescore from your post, awesome looking software! Thanks and good luck!

Looks like we are in

As a friend, Steven and I are working on a game using Elm (http://elm-lang.org), we think it may be cool to try our learning in LD48. So if real life does not get us, we will be participating in the jam. As this is a new language, we want to see how far we can push it, using little assets as possible.

* Language: Elm, compiled to Javascript

* Editor: Sublime Text 3

* Graphic: Hm, Photoshop or whatever we need.

Also In

Somehow LD keeps coinciding with the time I can get off to visit my girlfriend. This time I’ve arranged it so that I can do both! I’m thinking I might go for some voice acting this time, but we’ll see. Most of my friends are too far away.

Unity for engine

Probuilder 2 for modelling (I just started in on it, it’s amazing)

Paint.net for sprites and textures.

Whatever is appropriate for audio.

First time doing a game jam!

Hey guys! I’m Stosswalkinator and this is my first LD48 or game jam at all! I’m very excited to do this.

Tools I will be using:

Unity3D

Programming: C# – MonoDevelop (or hopefully Visual Studio 2013, I’ve heard good things about the Unity tools coming out for it)

Art: Photoshop and PyxelEdit

Music: MuseScore and FL Studio 11

Streaming: Twitch (once I make an account and such)

Good luck to everyone and I hope we all learn a lot!

“I’m In”, Ludum Dare 30

Hey all…

I am once again in for the ludum dare. Despite never being in the top one thousand i’m still going for top 100.

I will be using the language Java with the LWJGL/OpenGL library

Graphics: Paint.net

Ideas: My head

I am really bad at thinking up game ideas so i’m hoping i will think of a good one this time.

Good Luck!!

Ned :) :)

EDIT: Oh yea and i almost forgot. The IDE  that i will be using is IntelliJ :).

It helps to know it doesn’t matter what place you come in, as long as you’re having fun, and you’re happy with the end product.

Haha I’m like the exact same as you. Always thinking I’ll be top 100 and I use eclipse and paint.net as well. Unfortunately I don’t use lwjgl but I might use opengl depending if I do 3d or not.

LD26 postcompo: Super Pyro Runner

Remember the 8 games I made for Ld#26? Probably not.  It was one of my crazy experiments. But it did lead me to implement some genres I’ve done too little. Like platformers.  I decided to take one of them (Roof Escape) and turn it into a bigger game.  It started as a tile engine test for my new HTML5/WebGL game framework (more about that in my “I’m in!” post), but after more than a week, it turned into a lot of fun (for me, at least).

The problem with endless runners is that you don’t always get to shoot.  This game tries to remedy all that by adding a flamethrower and loads of things to shoot at!  Just remember to use your triple jump! Soon to be released for browsers, Android, and Ouya:
